Ok, this is a new thread that is piggy backing off my other thread asking about aftermarket stock options/recommendations for my Savage 110 Lightweight Storm .308

Thread 'Savage 110 Lightweight Storm stock ?’s'
https://rokslide.com/forums/threads/savage-110-lightweight-storm-stock-s.408666/

Goal: I want to turn this rifle into a ‘budget’ 6mm Creedmoor, using an aftermarket prefit barrel and an upgraded stock. This will be a rifle I will run suppressed ( I ordered an Airlock ZG 6.5 on their Black Friday sale) and I plan to top it with an SWFA SS 3-9 HD ( also ordered on Black Friday). It will be used for some western deer hunts in the next few years.

1. Prefit 6mm Creedmoor: A Google search reveals several options for this, so it’s just a matter of finding one I want. When it comes to changing the barrel, my gunsmith can do it relatively cheaply for me.

2. Aftermarket stock: This is were I’m running into issues/questions. The 110 Lightweight Storm uses the Axis mags and has the bottom bolt release button. The ‘magwell/bottom metal’ is molded into the stock. From what I’m finding out, is that any aftermarket stock will require me to get some additional or different ‘Bottom Metal’. I found the EABCO ‘bottom metal’

Would that work on an aftermarket stock such as the Stockys Next Gen Carbon Fiber Hunter or VG2 ? (And allow me to use my Axis mags?)

Is there any other ‘bottom metal’ I could/should be looking at that would work with aftermarket stocks? ( I’m ok with have to switch to different mags if that’s the case as well..)

Then i would like to replace the trigger guard with a metal one. Does anyone have any links to a metal trigger guard?

Is there anything else I need to consider or other gotchas I might run into with this project?

Thanks in advance for any and all help!!

I have the same rifle and have wanted a good stock and magazine solution for years.

The newly released MDT CORE bottom metal solves this problem. I got a stockys carbon sporter blem. The inlet matches the CORE bottom metal. I did have to sand down a couple rough spots on the stock inlet, but it is the correct inlet pattern, just rough and snug as it came from stocky's. It is flush and works perfectly with the MDT AICS flush fit mags.

The CORE bottom metal includes the bottom bolt release mechanism and a solid metal trigger guard, which is integral/one solid piece

I did the same turning a Savage LWH to 6 CM. I got a Stockys for it and had to get a new bottom metal and mags. I then put it back into a Savage stock with the other style bottom. Ill double check that I'm remembering right but I should have a bottom and 2 mags that will work with the Stockys if you are interested.

My McGowan 6CM prefit shoots great.
