Sauer 100 - Talk me out of it

What would you do

I've seen this talked about before. Is this like an "every 3rd round it will happen" thing or like a "its a thing that can happen but rarely does" thing?
My PRC did it every time until I mounted it higher, it bounced back into the loading port causing a jam, different cartridges may give different results
That was with a SWFA 3 to 9
Fortunately the high comb on the Sauer works well with a higher than normal mount

So, I am going to post this up here, but I really hope it is a complete aberration. It appears that my stock broke from normal use (just shooting it, no drops or anything). I'm not sure how many rounds I have through it at this point, but it must be around 200. I really enjoy using this rifle.

I have tried a lot of different ammunition in this rifle, but my groups just didn't seem to be getting smaller. Perhaps this is why?

I have emailed Sauer about it and I expect to hear back from them shortly. I guess this is just my opportunity to see how responsive they are and how much they honor the warranty?

Edit - this is the 6.5 CM version.

Ouch, sorry about that. That's your 9.3?

Is this the 9.3x62?

That's wild, and hopefully a one off that gets resolved quickly and easily. I'd have assumed it was your 9.3 like others mentioned. A cracked stock on any 6.5 is concerning.

65 in-lbs with paint pen on the threads seems to be working fine so far for me.

I had mine at 60 on the 6.5 CM. I don’t think that 60 contributed to the stock cracking.

If anything, apart from a flaw in the wood, I am inclined to blame some of the factory ammo. Some of the S&B factory loads had some slightly hard bolt lift. The Fiocchi 129-grain PSP had some hard bolt lift and extractor marks. I noticed that the day before yesterday, but since I wasn’t going to use them again, I didn’t think anything more of it. I have a hard time believing that a factory load in a 6.5 CM would crack a stock absent a flaw…

I left it alone on the 9.3x62 (I just haven’t bothered to tinker with it yet).

But that's the same wood stock that they put on all their other 100s right? I can't imagine overloading a 6.5 Creedmoor enough that it could match the recoil of a 30-06, let alone your 9.3. I think you're right, I'd bet flaw in the wood, especially for that location.

Sorry to see your issues. I don't think your problem was the ammo. It looks like your bolt was making contact with the stock and not allowing the bolt to seat fully in the downward position. The hammering of the bolt on the stock cracked it. That's my $.02.

That's good to hear. So about a two week turnaround?

About that. UPS picked it up from me on February 25. Assuming there are no further issues, I couldn’t be happier with their service.

I’ve got the scope remounted on a new one-piece base. With nothing currently on my calendar for tomorrow except exercise, I’m looking forward to a return trip to the range.

Is the heavier barrel panthers option any better or not worth the added weight and cost?

I like mine. It’s not a huge difference between the two, but the shorter barrel and bigger bolt knob are nice.
I have a standard XT. Thinking about picking up another one just not sure it's worth the extra $240. The bolt knobs look like they are threaded on? At least on my standard XT.
