Sauer 100 - Talk me out of it

What would you do

How slow would you go if you were really trying to test properly? Like what would your pacing look like?

Sorry this is only my second bolt action rifle and my other one I only put 3-5 rounds through per year.
I basically shot the groups as fast as I could reasonably shoot. Some of those groups were back to back like the eldx prob why it didn't shoot to great. Ideally I would bag it front and rear and take a little longer between shots making sure I was as steady as possible. Still impressed with it. I was also taking off the hot suppressor off my work gun I was training on and slapping it on the sauer. It was going back and forth. I do love the plan b threads never lose zero going back and forth between 5 rifles.

Has anyone ended up with one of the Sauers in a 7mm-08 that could confirm the twist rate? Went to buy one yesterday, but the seller said it was 1:11” which doesn’t jive with Sauers specs. I’m seeing 1:9.5” and 1:11” in various areas online so I’m not sure if the ones being sold at a discount have a different twist rate than current production. Thanks!

From the other thread they posted this from Sauer’s website.

Thanks for posting this. I found these specs on the Sauer website, so was sure they had to be 1:9.5" When the seller said it was 1:11" I seconded guessed ordering. Emailed Sauer to determine if they have ever made a 1:11" and am waiting to hear back. Would hate to order it and it actually comes with a 1:11 twist.

The classic xt 6.5 cm continues to perform. I shot these in sequence only time between groups was to just load 3 rounds in the magazine. The 147 was the last and pretty hot by then. The last time I shot 147 was a .8”group. Next time I am out I will do some higher round count groups.

In order
Federal berger 130 otm .79”
Hornady 143 eldx .59”
Aac sabre 140 (sst) .54”
Hornady 147 eldm 1.4”

Finished off with just one shot at a 4” steel at 200 yards. With one of the eld-x prone first round impact held between 1 and 2 moa.

So between this and your last test it seems like yours really likes bullets in the 140gr range.

Thank you for sharing this and for continuing to test.

Saturday I got an average of 2790fps with Winchester XP 125gr in the CM. They shoot good too but I haven’t been fully focusing on groups yet. Just switched scopes so was rezeroing and then shot two, three round groups to see what it looked like. Definitely sub-moa.

Edit: XP doing better than the ELD-X so far but need to do more shooting.

I finally got the Sauer 100 in 9.3x62.

Thanks, @EuroOptic!

Your 147 results are exactly why it pays to test 10+ round groups

Did anyone happen to end up with a 7mm-08 version from EuroOptic? If so, is the twist rate listed on the barrel? I finally heard back from Sauer (Blaser) and they say the 7mm-08 is 1:9.5 twist. EuroOptic said they were 1:11 when I contacted them. I sent them another email to double check, but if its on the barrel I thought one of you may be able to confirm. Thanks!

Edit as I didn't notice Jake had just replied to this thread! I'll double check with him!
