Sauer 100 recoil

I know the Sauer 100 is well regarded around here. I handled one in the store and was impressed. One thing that concerns me is the recoil pad. It's thin and very, very firm. On the other hand, the stock design seems about as well suited for recoil as any factory stock I've ever seen.

I'm only thinking about getting a 6.5 CM, but I'm a recoil wimp and don't want to suffer any more than I have to.

Any input from Sauer shooters would be appreciated.

I have a Mauser M12 .308 which is essentially the same gun. Recoil isn't an issue. However, the stock has a very long LOP. I'm average sized and it takes a little bit to get behind the gun. If you're under 6'2", it might be a reach.

I mean this is the absolute nicest way possible, but if you can’t handle the recoil of a 6.5 creedmoor, you should probably stick to plinking with a 22.

On a Winchester featherweight I still use the stock red pad ,
300wm and 375 ruger I spent the $75 for a backstop pad

Imo all my 6.5cm , 270 , .308 , don’t need a new pad

Not sure of how the pad is attached but usually it is not that big a project to chop some length off the stock and add the pad of your choice to get your perfect LOP. Even if it were hollow it would be easy enough to whittle out a piece of 1/4” plywood to epoxy on the end and screw in or glue on the soft recoiling pad of your choice.

Recoil is so subjective that it's borderline useless for me to say "it's fine", but... yeah I don't really like recoil either and the Sauer 6.5 is fine. It's not zero, but I find it pretty comfortable in the stock Sauer 100 with a bare muzzle. Big step down from something like a 308. The stock design helps. A good suppressor takes the recoil to downright pleasant levels.

I have a Sauer 100 Ceratech in 300 Win Mag and i bought a Limbsaver airtech 10804 Thompson Center on amazon. Fits pretty much perfect. I tried several and this was the one.

Made a massive difference, i can shoot all day with that and my muzzle brake.

You must be a tall fella. Limbsaver takes lop up to 15 inches.

Not by any means haha! Im 5' 9" but i had to mount my scope further back for proper eye relief. I snapped a picture for reference.

The Ceratech 300wm is 14.75" with the limbsaver

The fieldshoot 6.5 i got yesterday is
13 7/8" with stock pad

Also for reference the limbsaver has that square frame underneath and you do need to shave that down flush but that takes like 1 minute.
