I’m buying a Sauer 9.3x62 for a trip to Mozambique ( they asked I bring one gun only, because extra paperwork) I think 9.3 should work well as a single rifle safari
Keep us informed about how you like or dislike it
I can’t think of a better choice for one-rifle Africa.
I like it a lot. I haven’t taken it to the range yet because I have been busy with work. I have a placeholder SWFA 6x42 on it right now, which may become permanent.
The one thing I don’t like right now are the two-piece bases I got for it. They make it hard to mount the scope the way I want it. Even if I leave the front ring in place and shove the scope all the way back, even a 4-screw ring is really tight and interferes with the parallax a bit.
The weight is pretty good.
The right suppressor will get it just about perfect, but I am waiting on the right suppressor for it. I have an AB Raptor 10 mounted on my 20” Tikka M690, but it’s frankly too long for 20” or 22” barrel length.
I need to shoot it alongside my 20” Tikka M690 first and compare velocity between the 20” and 22” barrels before I thread it and possibly get it cut down. I have strongly considered taking the Tikka down to 16” to 18”. I ordered a wooden RokStok for the Tikka.
I heard a rumor of a new 6” muzzle forward reflex .375 caliber suppressor coming to market soon, but I haven’t heard more since the initial flutter.
