Does it have to be a phone? My recommendation would be to buy a satellite messenger (inreach, spot x, etc.) and sell it used after the hunt. The SOS feature (combined with the associated rescue service) is pretty good insurance and the Iridiums I used daily 15 years ago did not have that feature (I'm not sure if current Iridium offerings do).

Where are you at or plan to be at when you rent it? I rent locally here from a couple places for work and everything always works great for a good price.
