Hey guys. Looking for a sanity check. My son and I are going to be hunting in the unit 360 / 362 / 314 area of Montana starting September 20. He moved out there about a year and a half ago and keeps telling me he doesn't think the elk bugle much in that area. Is that true? I hunted in a limited draw unit in Wyoming last year that isn't that far away from where we are going to hunt in Montana. It took 2 days to find the elk - but once we found them, I heard quite a bit of bugling. Like to hear what hunters that know the area have to say..

I know bear and wolves can quiet the elk down a little - but there were bear and wolves where I hunted in Wyoming and they still did it.

As far as 360/362, they bugle some and there are some local elk. It's some big country and the population increases a bunch once the Yellowstone elk migration kicks off. That area also has a lot of griz. Todd Orr was in that area. Google him if you haven't seen the story.
