Hey guys, my wife and I will be in Salt Lake City the first week of April. We’d appreciate any local restaurant recommendations as well as any “must-see” suggestions while we’re in the area.

Thank you in advance!

Valter’s Osteria for fine Italian dining.
It’s been a few years since I was there, and I understand that Valter has passed away, but it’s worth looking into. Great food and service.

The red iguana is decent Mexican food. I have only eaten there once and I don’t remember it being life changing but my wife’s family all swear by it.

Temple Square is worth walking around, even if you’re not a member of their church. Pretty cool history and buildings. They are doing a bunch of construction so it may be a bit of a mess.

Outside of that, the best thing to see of SLC is it getting smaller in your rear view mirror.

We just can't leave the Melting Pot alone when we stop in SLC. Unfortunately they rehabbed the place a couple years ago. Before that it was straight out of 1978 haha!

First weekend in April will be very crowded in SLC and Temple Square. Easter and General Conference weekend for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

I like Indochine Vietnamese Bistro - rice noodle salad with pork and egg rolls, be sure to put all the fish sauce (nuoc mam) on it and siracha

Otherwise go check out Park City, tons of expensive fine dining there, or La Callie if this is some special trip for you?

Natural History Museum of Utah was really cool went there 2 times in 6 months.

Red butte skyline trail right near it is pretty incredible. If you hit the top, take the trail away from town, and you will find elk up there that time of year.

Didnt think about it being conference that time of the year.

I would avoid Temple Square if it’s conference time. Place is a mad house.

SLC has a mediocre food scene, the mountains are top notch though. If you have never been here and the weather cooperates drive up Little Cottonwood Canyon to Alta. I like Slackwater Pizza and Proper Burger. I had some friends in town a few weeks ago, they tried a restaurant called Sunday's Best near downtown. They said it was so good they went back a second time on their visit.

I moved 10 years ago so take these recommendations with that in mind.

Eva does excellent tapas

Oh Mai for some of the best Vietnamese food I've eaten anywhere

Copper Onion had decent burgers

Bombay House (I think it's called Mumbai House now) was solid Indian food

lol and thx Corb.

Thank you all for the responses. We’ll be there after the first weekend actually around 4/6 or 4/7. My oldest daughter will be lifting at USAW University Nationals from 4/9-4/12 at the Salt Palace. We’re staying at the downtown Hampton, and we hope to get out and hit the local restaurants and maybe get some windshield and hiking time in between sessions.
