Hello everyone, first-time poster here. I relocated from Alaska last year and recently obtained my residency this summer. I was able to get a Salmon Zone B tag. While I have hunted elk on Raspberry Island in Alaska, I have never hunted elk in the lower 48 states.
I've been exploring forums, E-Scouting, and talking with my family, who are generational locals to Salmon. They’re more trail hunters, whereas I’m a backpack hunter. I’m hoping to connect with someone who has experience hunting this tag or elk in general. I'd also be interested in having a second hunter join me, whether they have a tag (mule deer or elk) or not—I'm open to either as long as our hunting styles and mentality are similar.
I consider myself quite new to hunting in this region, although I’ve hunted Alaska my entire life. I’ve packed out moose, bears, sheep, goats, and more, so I’m confident in my packing and country skills. I’d be happy to help with Alaska-related questions or details if that’s helpful for your future trips. Contact me through PM please if you're looking to partner up, or willing to trade some info.
Thanks, and I look forward to connecting!
