Sako S20 pre fit barrels? Options?

Been out for 2.5 years now?

Is anyone aware of prefit barrel options?

Reviving an old thread but any word on this? I've read conflicting reports on if it will take tikka prefits or not.

I’m also interested, another thing to make the s20 better is something to replace the plastic trigger guard. I’m looking at the krg folder for the trg 22/42 that may work.

They made a heavy bbl version in Europe that was never imported here, or at least that I know of.

There’s some internet chatter that trg barrels , trg barrel thread pitch will work on Sako S20 actions

Others hear this or have experience?

I heard that it's M27x1.5, which should match the TRG, but have not confirmed.

The TRG was supposedly inspiration for the S20.

I'm interested in this as well, thinking of grabbing a used S20. I'm pretty sure I saw something on snipershide that stated the threading on the S20 was different than the 85 and 90 barrels. Don't know about TRG.

Carbon Six Barrels just replied to me today and said Tikka T3/T3X barrels 1"x16 tpi will
fit the Sako S20, same tenon.

You're welcome! I'm not sure about the action wrench, I could ask Carbon Six
and see if they have an answer.

I heard back from Carbon Six, I asked if the action wrench for the Tikka and S20 were the same this is their response:
Do not have that information on hand. We use an external wrench for the Tikka and Sako, as they have flats on the receivers.

As far as internal wrenches are concerned I did see in another post here someone saying they damaged
a PVA internal wrench, probably due to the extreme torque required. I did find a few Tikka internal wrenches, links posted below. I would contact them to be sure they will work or just go the external wrench route to be safe.

Another topic. Do you have a secondary 20 moa picatinny rail on the stock rails? If so which one?
I'm only aware of the Sako Optilock One and Contessa and am trying to figure out which way to go
or if there are other options.

Carbon Six is responsive, that’s great

For the rail , yes I do have a 20 moa Sako optilock on the rifle

Honestly don’t need it - haven’t shot it past 600 yds and built in two section rails cut into the action are great

Got it thanks! Yes, really impressed with Carbon Six's quick replies. I haven't really looked into this but are the Optilock and Contessa the only rails that will fit? Or will any rail fit? I thought there was some weird proprietary thing going on with the built in rails limiting options.

Great question - Contessa and opti lock are rh only advertised options I see. You could measure the built in segments abs see if they time out in spacing correctly

The Optilock gives a rail to use SAKO only opti rings - so there’s further investment needed in Sako Optilock rings

Only Contessa actually provides a full picatinny rail

Thanks. I looked into it more and it does seem like these are the only options due to the
built in rails limited length. I'm curious what scope did you use and which height rings?
I'm thinking about getting the Bushnell Match Pro ED 5-30x56 and not sure which Optilock
rings to go with.
