Sako 90 Reviews/experiences

I've been using S20 in 300WM and 90 Peak in 30-06.

S20 had feeding issues from the start but 90 feeds flawlessly.

Both shot mediocre with factory ammo but I literally tried one load and went straight to reloading. I managed to get S20 shooting about 0.5 MOA with 180gr Sierra TGK's @ 3150 fps (5shot groups). With the 90 I'm usually just under 1MOA with the same 180gr Sierra TGK's @ 2850 fps but I didn't really bother finding the right load as hunting season was starting. Good enough for now.

Not the most precise rifles I used, both Sauer and Blaser shot a lot better, but for a lightweight hunting rifle I'm fine with it.
That’s disappointing to hear. I’ve been eyeing the S20

I’ve got a Sako 90 Bavarian in 6.5x55 I’ve been absolutely smitten with. It’s very accurate with everything I’ve put in it, including very cheap PPU stuff. Shot it out to 685 yards and didn’t have any issues whatsoever spotting impacts. Feeding and extraction/ejection is flawless and the set trigger is almost too light.
I did have it shortened because the factory LOP is 14.5” and I’m too short for that.

Love my Sako 90 peak 308, now we can hunt .22 cal so can’t stop thinking about the 223 so I can shoot a 90 peak even more. Even though likely do most hunting with 308. Just excuses to say to myself I need an identical ride in 223. Also have tikkas and like them a lot but it’s not love.

Would love to see some pics of that peak 233 someone has here! The magazine, action...🙏

To solve the stock issue I am making my own from wood. I also just ordered a $200 laminate stock from Boyd’s inlet for Sako 85 (same as 90).
Got the pro varmint and am going to shape it into a Rokstock lite. I’ll make a thread on it once I get it. If you have some tools and woodworking ability it should be a pretty easy project. Cheap way to get a wood rokstock

Can’t wait to see it! Post some pics!

I have a sako 90 Varmint in .308 in Stainless with a 23.7inch barrel. I love it.
It seems to perform good with vast majority of bullets, but prefers hornady sst 180 and eldx 178s.
Lapua scenar L in 185s does .95 moa at 100m.

I wanted something that will double as a LR shooter and a hunting rifle. It does that perfectly.
Find attached my target at 800 meters with factory ammo, Hornady SST 180 grain superformance. 1.22 moa at 9 shots, at around 6-7 degrees celsius.
At 100m I get around .65 -.70 moa.
One thing I do want to do is find a OEM stock or a sako stock form the Quest line that will fit the footprint of the sako in 308. I need that adjustable cheek riserand preferably LOP, lower the weight a bit would also be a nice touch. BUT finding one thats compatible with a sako 90 is a nightmare.
