Dave,

I'd considered giving one a try but after a little back/forth on it I decided not to mainly because of the stock grip. I like my thumb inline with the bore, not wrapped. I asked for input on it here:

I ended up going with the Peak instead. Just got it so I've not had it out yet.

They want like $2500 for that stock, pretty ridiculous up charge.

Quest has a cerekote stainless barreled action.

The cheapest stainless steel Sako 90 I can find at Eurooptic is $2299. Quest is $3999.

$1700 difference. That’s still a lot, but the way Sako makes their CF stocks seems a cut above the others, and there are some spendy models on the market from other CF stock companies. It’s also on par with some of the popular rifle chassis.

If the Quest is a great stock, it’s maybe not completely ludicrous.

The Finnlight is going to be $2k, the hunters are now $1800ish. I’m figuring the the barreled action value is somewhere around $1500. I don’t see cerakote adding much value. That stock better work some kind magic for that price increase

Those look great, and hit a nice price point.

They are a bit heavier though, by spec. Not that those are always correct, but what I’m seeing is the lightest Finnlight is listed at 7.2lbs (6.5 Creedmoor in 20”). Whereas a 20” 6.5 Creed Quest weighs 6.6lbs.

It would be cool if the Montana rifle company in its current form is better than what they used to be. A lot of those m70 clones they made were real lemons and they didn’t have a good reputation of fixing their issues.

The Marshall's better work. That's the entire value proposition, and there are a lot of reputations on the line.

At 4k you can put one hell of a rifle together that's everything you want to your spec. I don't see 4k in value there.

The Adventure is 6.6 lb also to look at and less $ than my peak 308 was listed at 5.7 lb but came at 5.625 lb (5 lb 10 oz) actual. The finnlight is the budget way to get the metal (integral picatinny etc.), but yeah it’s a heavy stock, funny name for the heavier option lol, gotta pay to drop the weight from there and it’s all in the stock material/design choices.

@mxgsfmdpx has experience with it,

Search quest and his username.
It’s an excellent gun. The stock is good but I need to modify it to get rid of the hump which favors wrap style thumb grip. Trigger reach and vertical grip are good once this is relieved.

Obviously it’s Sako quality and fit/finish. Excellent guns.

Insanely reliable action, excellent bolt, barrels that are as accurate as any custom gun, very long barrel life for the chamberings, reliable and good trigger, probably the best current QA and QC of any “mass manufactured” gun company in the world right now…

What are you “building” that is more reliable, more accurate, and lasts as long?

Any tikka.
Anything on a rem700 based action.

A Tikka is not any more reliable or accurate than a Sako. The only thing that is "potentially" more reliable between the two is the single stack versus double stack mag, and even then, in 10's of thousands of rounds through Sakos with double stack mags, there hasn't been any issues with any of mine.

For the rem700, you can build some nice guns off of those, but for dedicated field/hunting rifles I stay away from them for known reasons.

I'm aware of the issue with the rem700s but at 4k you're picking every detail of the gun. Not using the handful of factory chamberings with standard chambers in barrels way too long.

A tikka with a prefit and a better stock is a better gun than this full stop and half the price.
Nothing against the sako barrels, they're just stuck in the 90s.

How are 20" threaded 5/8", 8 twist barrels in .243 and 6.5 CM "stuck in the 90's" on these guns?

I agree with the Tikka at a lower price and in a Rokstok for sure, but if someone wants to spend the money on a Sako they aren't losing anything to the Tikka at all save stock ergos being better on the Rokstok.
