Saddle platforms

Great information! Thanks for sharing. Can you post your attachment system? What made for the change in that regard? I guess I’d have to consider the elite as I had almost written it off.

I use one of these -

And I add an additional one of these -

Then its explained how to use it in this video - fast forward to about the 9:30 mark -

My main reason for switching is that its what I used on the EDP and also my hang on stands. For the elite, I use the 1/8 version instead of thr 3/16 due to limited room behind the cleat for two 3/16 ropes to fit and get tight.

The attachment method that it comes with is also rock solid if done correctly, but it feel like the hfas pro just gets tighter. Im not a fan of cam straps.

How does the carbon grab the tree vs the aluminum options?
I’ve never had an issue with it grabbing the tree just as good as the aluminum, I have both types, just make sure you give both models a good “set” with the platform up before you fold it down.

I used the trophyline mission when I got into saddle hunting and I love that thing other than the footprint when it’s folded up. I’ve spent a lot of time actually facing away from the tree on it and it’s a dream to stand on.

Wanted something smaller so I picked up the Arsenal Rzr elite this year and use the same attachment method as the fella above. Maybe I’m just dumb but I struggle to get it set tight at times, but when I do I’m really happy with it. I’ve been hunting out of a hang on more often this year (with my saddle as my harness) and if I’m not going too far in I’ll still carry the rzr elite with me just in case I find it would work better than the hang on. That probably sounds dumb but after saddle hunting for Several years it’s hard to ignore how comfortable (and still) I can be when I have an actual seat.

I did stealth strip the piss out of it because it’s a tuning fork if you ding it with something. I can still turn around pretty easy on it and feel good about taking those off side shots. I have size 10 feet though.

I meant to say even though it’s obvious, I wouldn’t ever carry the trophyline mission and a hang on in at the same time, but the footprint of the rzr elite and the weight pretty much make it a no brainer. It goes against the argument for light weight mobile hunting, but sometimes a guys gotta have options lol

while I was waiting for my shop to heat up I made a simple list. I’m sure some of you have this on spread sheets.
great breakdown for everyone! i prefer a larger platform, people get so wrapped up in weight, i'd go up a pound in weight just to have another 3-4 inches of platform to work with!

Of the ones listed so far, ive had the XOP Edge, Trophyline EDP, and the Hunt Arsenal Rzr Elite.

I hated the edge. Very heavy for its size to weight ratio compared to other offerings, and I could never get it to bite the tree as much as I liked.

The trophyline EDP is an awesome platform. Its built like a tank, bites the tree extremely well, has a decent size, and doesnt weigh a ton. The only downside to it for me is the post makes it a bit more difficult to pack compared to some of the fold flat options out there.

I picked up the Arsenal Elite this year. This thing is sweet. Folds down super flat, weighs next to nothing, bites the tree hard, and has plenty of room for my size 12s. Im on the upper edge of the 300lb weight limit at 285, and it holds me solid. I use the Hangfree HFAS pro to attach mine, rather than the rope it came with.

It fits in my bane pocket like it was meant to ride in there.

That think looks pretty slick the way it packs down.

I'm still running the original tethrd predator (smaller size) aluminum platform and wish I could talk myself into something a little sleeker like that arsenal.

Probably will get a small footprint hang on like a LWCG .5 or XOP Roam at some point for longer sits or times when I have to extra still.

Im a big fan of my latitude x wing. I found the somewhat non traditional design of it to be extremely comfortable/natural feeling. Some of the platforms take some trial and error to figure out how to get comfortable the x wing is a breeze to get comfortable in for me.

not being a saddle hunter, at least at the moment, my always wanna make things better, haha, I have this weird vision of hanging a brace from the tree , an arm of sorts that goes out 4’ and allows you to hang from the brace at diff distances up to 4 feet from the tree like a flower pot haha. On a lot of private land like I hunt id set a few up and just walk up to it and ascend

I have used the tethrd platform you reference and like it. Grips the tree just fine as long as you set it good. Size 11 shoes.
How flat does it stowaway? Do you have the pouch to pack it in? Seeing how the arsenal is completely flat, intrigues me. Might end up buying a couple and reviewing them.

My next saddle platform is going to be a LWCG .5 hang on stand. I don't know how you guys can take it using a platform all day. Between hanging with my knees on the tree and standing, my legs are shaking after about 4hrs. I figured with the .5, it weighs 5 lbs and I can sit or use my saddle.
