I can't decide on a saddle platform for whitetail hunting!! I have all the other necessary gear. Price (and available sale/discounts), weight, and Made in USA are all factors. The Tethrd platform is the OG but I feel like their better alternatives now. At 6'4" 225lbs I'm not looking for the uBer smalls or stick type platforms. My top contenders are the Trophyline EPD, Lattitude rebel (although I don't think I can swing 300$ for a platform), and LWCG The Fix. I think timber ninja has one coming out but not sure when.

Thoughts, recommendations, Suggestions?

Thanks

I’ve had a predator for three years now. I’ve replaced the bracket and added a double step on top from EWO. It’s about perfect for me feature-wise. There is some slop between the post and platform that I don’t love, but doesn’t seem to hurt functionality.

Of the platforms you mentioned I’d probably choose the latitude and add a double step on the top. The LWCG has a step but it seems smaller than I’d like and there’s no good way to add a bigger one. The latitude has one as well but seems not quite big enough. Also, the platform itself seem bigger than I’d want (I sandwich my platform between a shape charge and sherman).

I like my predator and don’t plan on changing, but suspect the fit and finish is better on the latitude and could be made equivalent feature wise.

I am your size, and use the tetherd platform. The whole idea of saddle hunting is saving space, some of the new gen platforms are pushing the size of the lone wolf hang ons I sold to commit to the saddle. Biggest deal is to wear a stiff sole boot for comfort, I wear my crispi guides.

Point taken. And good advice on the boots. Thanks

Thanks Netherman, Are you talk about like a squirrel step for side shot opportunites? Not sure what you mean by adding the step to the top. I'm familiar with EWO

I got the mini from Cruzr . Its awesome, coming from someone who didnt use a platform for 11 years of prior saddle hunting. I used screw in steps and a ring of steps for the entire time before.

Thanks, I'm going to check it out

My uncle has a predator and added a strap with a step either side of the platform (same level). Is that what you mean? A picture would be helpful if not a big hassle

No its a step that goes on top of the platform post. If that doesn't make sense I can grab a picture when I get home.

I finally pulled the trigger on a platform this past season. Got the EDP and really like it. Previously I had used ROS and a homemade 1-stick with a very small platform on top. Now I use a lighter 1-stick leave it off to the left side just in case I need to move around the tree. I wear size 11 boots and have good room on the EDP. Good luck.

God Bless.

Thank you. good insights

Nice! So do you use the step just for better "setting" the platform. Sorry for all the questions, just interested...

I don’t but you could. I’ve found that if I get it too tight to the tree it wants to fold if it gets unweighted. I like it as an alternate foot placement for sitting positions.

I’m 6’ 235lbs, I had the tethered platform for for a year and was never really crazy about it and it about bucked me off a couple times. I sold it and bought the fix from LWCG. It’s more stable and better built.
