Reading this led to the S2H class page, I see they recommend and app called shooter. Is this it?

shooter provides a very clean interface (if you turn certain settings on) and provides hard data you can use. When I was running binos with AB and comparing to shooter I wasn’t getting different solutions, and if they were it was .1 mil difference which I probably can’t shoot that difference anyway.

Most solvers are pretty close to one another at reasonable distances. There are discrepancies between the models at longer distance (4dof vs AB vs Revic/swaro/shooter etc) but if you consistently use the same one and if you can true your gun at as long a range as possible you should be good.

What did you not like about the course? What were things you found you liked about how you did it before that you decided to keep?

When EVERYTHING is better it always makes me wonder if it’s not a bit group thinkish.

I thought a lot about this question before starting the thread. There were definitely frustrations with aspects of the course. But most of my frustrations were just that: mine. When I said it was the best training I have ever attended, I meant it.

A lot of the course was like drinking from a firehose. That’s not a negative per se, just a statement of fact. There’s only so much that can be covered in the time allocated.

I would have liked another day and more in-depth training on reading wind. That’s not to say it isn’t covered, but that’s one area where I would have really enjoyed more time. And part of me “just knows” that if the timing worked out, the material was there.

Also, this is a topic for another thread, and not really part of the curriculum, but I still hate scope bumper caps. I tried using them the first five days, then experienced an issue with my scope being out of focus. I took them off that evening, refocused the scope, and enjoyed the last day a lot more. I need to get good with using them or another scope cover, but right now they really slow me down.

2.Know
- know where your weapon is pointed at all times
- have a good reason for it and be able to justify it immediately

3. Keep
- Keep your weapon on safe and finger straight and off the trigger until you intend to fire

4. Positive
- Positively identify your target
- What is behind, in front, and around it
- What may cross in front or behind it

Using these vinyl sleeves with velcro to store DA/Range/reference cards in bino harness and can be velcroed to stock. Easy to find on amazon.

The hunter safety one is good, this is better and more practical for real life.

Thanks much for sharing, a better wording of the 4 basic rules. People can manage their own risk/responsibility level temporarily pointing a muzzle at an empty car, or horse, or their own appendix. It's primarily the flagging/sweeping of other humans that isn't going to have a good reason I can think of in a typical hunting or range scenario (vs self defense or defense of others from 2 or 4 legged predators).
