S&W 329 PD .44 ammo

To me, "a true bear gun", isn't the one you left in the truck cause it is too heavy to carry.
The 329 is THE best carrying 44mag period. If a fellow feels under-gunned, then they should step up to a 454, 480, etc.

I’ve never left my redhawk in the car because it was too heavy to carry. You might, I never have.

You probably already have them in hand but I too use the aforementioned 255gr Keith loads from Buffalo Bore in my 329PD.

I like the 305 gr Grizzly cast ammo out of my 329. It's a well designed bullet for deep penetration and wide meplat, and loaded to a modest speed. I have X frame grips on and it's manageable.

Do you have the link to these? I’ve been looking on their site and cannot seem to find them. Apologies if they are right In front of my face

Just purchased recently and was curious as to what .44 ammo you all would recommend for grizzly country? Will be carrying in Wyoming this Sept. Was looking at FedPrem cast core but just saw it had been discontinued. Thoughts?
I have this revolver and found it very painful to shoot with any standard 44 loads. I sent it to Kelly's for Magnaporting. They recommended Quadraporting, which i did. Recoil is now on a par with my steel 4" model 29. The quadraporting is very effective in reducing rotation of the gun in hand. I think the factory 329 PD recoil is far too strong for bear defense - follow-up shots are very slow compared to other 44 Mags. When I first fired this revolver, it would lock up after one round, because the "safety" lock engaged under recoil. I removed that, solving the problem. Please be certain to shoot this gun with your carry load before going into the field; there may be kinks to work out.
