I've got some talley scope mount rings on my Kimber MA. The screws that hold the scope rings together have developed some rust on them this season. What's the best way to get that rust off? Anyone else having this issue?

Yes I have - take a q tip and put some petroleum jelly on the tip and before you head out for a hunt dab the screw heads and you will be protected against that. Same way to clean them except use a lubricant of your choosing.

I have the same problem on my Talley LWs. Rusty screws after every rainy hunt. I've thought about replacing them with stainless but haven't gotten around to it. In the meantime I wipe the rust off with a green scrubby pad, and put on a little gun oil. Which frankly doesn't work very well!

this is the ONLY negative I have to say about DNZ rings, they do this as well - I like the petroleum jelly idea, I've used a little drop of TETRA OIL on each cap but I worry that it will seep into the threads and loosen them somehow - I think the wax solution has merit too
