Ruger Ranch Rifle…..Anyone?

Kicking around one of these in a 7.62x39mm. Anyone got one? What’s your experience with accuracy & suppressing?

You guys with the 5.56mm version please join in as well! This platform has my attention as well as I’m already setup to reload for it. What’s your accuracy experience reloading suppressed?
I like that it feeds off AR15 mags….

I had one in 450bm, the bolt on them is very noisy, I’ve seen them first hand shoot very accurately and not be picky on ammo. But I’ve also seen them fail to feed and fail to fire. Plenty of good information out there, vortex nation podcast does a podcast on tiers of rifles, some good info on that cast. Reason for mentioning, one of the founders sons jim, had one and goes through all of the experiences he had with that rifle.

I stupidly passed one up in 556 a little over a year ago and kick myself for it daily. I ended up with the predator version in 204 ruger and am pleased with it. I use it as a truck gun so I’m not worried about some of the fit and finish problems the American rifles have. It’s very accurate for what it is. I still wish I had the shorter barrel of the ranch version and if I come across one in either 556 or 300 blackout I won’t hesitate to grab it.

I have seen one at the range. Guy was holding good groups. If you are going 7.62 x 39 it will be great for Subsonics. If your going 556 I would buy the Tikka. The Tikka is a smother action. For a Subsonic though it should be fun.

I have the predator version in 308, feeding sucks with the included magazine, converted it to accept AICS magazines, solved the feeding issues. Very accurate rifle, mine will print 3/4" or less groups all day. Also very easy to pack and or carry all day hunting, it's lightweight and handles well. I don't think you'd go wrong picking one up for yourself.

I have a 5.56 version, from when they first came out (flush magazine). It puts any 5.56 ammo I feed it into tiny bug holes. Its my preferred rifle for keeping on the back seat of the UTV while doing chores on the farm. I do keep a suppressor on it...great for new shooters and kids. I replaced the stock with a Boyd's hardwood, and the trigger with a timney.

Is definitely worth the Timney upgrade, without a doubt. I also polished the crap out of my bolt. I hit it up starting with 400 grit W&D & worked my way up to 2000 grit & now, it's 99% as smooth as my Tikkas.

I’ve got the ranch in 5.56, predator in 6.5 cm and .25-06. I haven’t reloaded for the 5.56 yet but shoots ok with bulk ammo. The other two shoot well. The bolt on the 5.56 is not as smooth as the other two but I am not very picky. I shoot all 3 suppressed and the 16” barrel with a can is pretty nice. For the price with the barrel already being short and threaded I think it’s a good option.

I have the Predator in .308 and the Ranch in 5.56, no complaints other
than what I perceive as a loud safety.
No cycling issues.

Got the 5.56 version about three years ago. Bolt is rough but never an issue in functioning. Just shoot Hornady ammo out of it. Coyotes have been the only critters so far. A great truck gun.

Only modification was to throw away the awful brake.

I have a Ruger American Predator in .308 and put an aftermarket stock on it, Boyd’s I think. I’d consider it accurate and consistent and wouldn’t hesitate to get another one
