From what I have read, you can rechamber them into any 308 standard bolt face caliber.

Snipershide just did a pretty thorough test. Shot it stock and then upgraded/changed a bunch on it. If someone made a CF barrel for it, I'd own one. It ended up being an easy 1/2 MOA gun.

Can you re-chamber one into a 6.5 saum?

Unfortunately the smaller shank size of the Ruger Precision rifle precludes manufacturers from chambering in SAUM cartridges. If the chamber was cut to accommodate the cartridge, there would be insufficient chamber wall thickness to accommodate the pressures encountered with that load.

Just picked mine up today. First, I'm going to need to tear it down and remove the handguard to clean off all of the oil. Ruger is not shy using the stuff. It's surprisingly light for having a heavy barrel.

I think they are listed at around $1000 at Sportsmens warehouse. My local one has had a few in but they've going out the door quick.

Here's some pics of mine. First pic is out of the box, second pic was a reminder of how the handguard pieces fit on the barrel nut. You can see how much oil is left on the barrel.
Some things I didn't realize about the rifle, 1. It comes with two QR swivels for mounting a sling. 2. It comes with a picatinny rail mount. 3. It comes with 2 10rd Pmags. All in all, quite a bit of value. The buttstock is decent but I think the Magpul PRS is a better choice and I intend to install one but as a heads up, you will need a rifle length buffer tube. It comes with a carbine buffer tube and you can install any type of adjustable buttstock you want on it unless you want the PRS. The factory grip isn't bad but I think I'm going to swap it for a Magpul grip as that's what I'm used to with an AR style rifle.

The trigger. Um, wow. I've never been a fan of the Savage Accu-trigger and it flat out blows it away. I'd say it's on par with the Timney's (which I'm familiar with and swear by) and I have not adjusted it. I haven't shot it yet, but the dry fires I've done I'm very impressed with it out of the box.

It's a nice rifle but I'm in a bit of a conundrum with it as I'm not sure what I'm going to use it for. I'm not a long range hunter or paper puncher but I can't wait to get out to the range to shoot this thing. I chose .308 as I'm fully setup to support that cartridge but I kinda want to hunt with this at some point as it's not that heavy. I can cut more weight by swapping out the Samson handguard with the Seekins NOXS 9" handguard. I'll most likely bring it with me next month for a late season white tail doe hunt if it shoots well. Who knows, maybe I'll buy a new 6.5 Creed barrel for it and play with that. The cool thing about it is the possibilities are almost endless. As I've said before, I'd love to see one of these in a long action.

I have a Nikon Buckmaster 6-18x that needs a home so I'm going to use that first. If I take it hunting, I'll slap a 3-9x on it.

No fancy groups yet. I started off last weekend trying to shoot with a 3-12x in blowing snow, that didn't work too well. Swapped scopes to the 6-18x and dialed it in today so now the work begins on load development. So far I've shot Hornady Match 168gr Amax and 150gr PMC Bronze. It doesn't care much for the Amax's. Also, I'm having a tough time getting comfortable with the factory stock so that will be swapped for a Magpul PRS and a Magpul grip as the factory grip causes me to pull the trigger back at an awkward angle so I can't blame the gun. I'll have more time to spend with it next month.

My nephew owns one. Was absolutely in love with in until it literally fell apart on him headed out on a hunt. Don't know what exactly happened but he was pretty bummed.

I finally got around to installing the Magpul PRS and my muzzle brake. To me, the PRS is a huge improvement over the factory stock. The brake is probably overkill but I got it for a good deal so why not. I'm going shooting next weekend so hopefully I can start working up loads for it. It weighs over 12lbs right now so it's going to be a range queen for me.

I'm having some fitment issues with the new buffer tube. It's tightened down but wobbles. I'm going to take it to a smith and see what they can do.

The hinge itself doesn't wobble, it's the new buffer tube that is. I'm wondering if I need to add a washer to shim it out or take some material off of the seat.
