Ruger AR-556 sling help

I have a Ruger AR-556 and I'm trying to get ready for early December deer hunting for the 1st time. I'm a newbie to hunting and never used a sling. In my search there are so many options, connectors and ways to carry.

Can someone recommend a quality sling for a 2 point carry as well as connectors I'd need?

Is the sling and the end plate all I'll need? Or do I need a QD as well?

Without knowing what all you have currently, I suggest that you just watch their video which helps with know how to use the sling, what components you may need, etc. They make excellent videos

For an AR, I absolutely love the Viking VTAC. Its a great 2point sling, super basic, very easy to setup and use. Maybe not the best hunting sling, but its what I carried on my last deployment. Great for going hands free and getting the gun out of your way while still keeping it super accessible.

Another vote for the Vtac. It's an excellent 2 point sling that works well for carrying hands free, is quick to get in and out of when using it to bolster your shooting position, and if you necklace it, you really don't give up anything to a one point when it comes to manipulation of the gun.

It's designed to be attached on the support side at the front of the forend, and the firing side on the butt stock. There's multiple ways to accomplish this depending on the hardware currently on your rifle.

another fan of V Tac slings and I also have some magpul slings. Can’t go wrong with either. For hunting, you may want some padding.

for attachment, it depends on your AR. Most stocks have a loop you can run a sling through and they may have a QD cup/socket As well. Up front, it depends on you hand guard and front sight tower. you may need to add a QD socket via an Mlok slot Or you can run a wire attachment through your front sight tower.

the nice thing about ARs is they are modular and you can accessorize them. The bad thing is it has become standard to sell them pretty stripped down for the same reason so you end up have to buy a few parts to get them set up.

lastly, 223 / 556 isn’t an ideal deer caliber. To the point that it is not legal in some states. There is a thread on that here recently. Make sure you get the heaviest bullet your gun will cycle. +70 grains. Keep your shots short and weLL placed on the vitals or you will be in for a long track and possibly a wounded animal you won’t recover.

Vickers, VTAC, or Magpul MS4. I've run variations of all three. Can't say much bad about any of them.

Another one you might look at is frank proctor sling. Doesn’t require and additional hardware and the 2 that I have work just as well as anything else I’ve used but I’m not a professional AR user.
