Ruger American vs weatherby obsedian

I’m looking at getting an under $600 rifle. The be narrowed it down mostly to the ruger American gen2 and the weatherby obsedian. It’s for a smaller framed youth hunter in .243,6.5, or 7mm-08. Looking for accuracy and reliability. I’m open to other suggestions but trying to stick with American made( or partially at least).

My RA predator g1 in 6.5 CM has been solid. Bolt sounds like a zipper when worked, stock is flimsy as hell, and it feels pretty cheap in the hand. All that being said, the thing shoots. It's solid at about 1 moa for 10 shots with handloads. Can't remember ever shooting factory through it. I am not familiar with that model Weatherby, but I am a fan if the American. That is based on one rifle, so YMMV.

The Weatherby Vanguard is made by Howa. It’s a Howa 1500 barreled action. The assembly is completed by Weatherby in Wyoming. Their factory polymer stock is more rigid than the Ruger. The HACT trigger is pretty good for a two stage on a budget rifle. Vanguards use a pressure bed rather than a free floated barrel. Most shoot really well but some people prefer to remove the pressure point for improved accuracy. I feel like the action on a blued Vanguard is pretty slick. The cerakoted versions feel a little sticky. I haven’t spent any time behind the RA II, but, a friend has one—bronze cerakote .243, and he’s been pleased with it.

I was started on a weatherby vanguard 243 when I was 13. Hornady American Whitetail, Remington cor-lokt and the federal blue box all shot at or below 1moa at 100yards. I am just now starting to reload for it and I’m getting around half moa on the regular.
I still use it today and it still fits me well enough. The stock is comfortable, although a steady cheek welder sometimes an issue if in an odd position. They are a bit heavier than most other rifles in that class. Mine weighs 10 1/2 pounds with the scope. It makes recoil mitigation better, but can be difficult on long treks especially for a young person.
