this will be my daughters first rifle. Decided to go with 7mm08. looked at both these yesterday and like the tikka. But I am wondering if the tikka is really worth another $200. What say you guys. Also open to other recomendations but I want something relatively light and compact as we will be doing lots of backpack hunting. Thanks

My wife loves her vanguard Camilla. If possible have her shoulder both. The Camilla was a very natural fit but the tikka and others she had problems getting a good cheek weld.

But then I can't steal it from time to time. Lol

With the Ruger the magazine is not designed well. It will stop feeding properly.

Go with the Camilla. Sheridan is way too nice of a town to not support 100%.

A buddy of mine has a daughter with a Weatherby Camilla in 6.5 Creedmoor. She took two bull elk with it this season using the 143 ELD-X. Worked perfectly.

I shoot my wife's Camilla just fine, it is perfectly usable for an adult male. She has the accubrake on her 7-08 and it is softer than her 5.56.

I just sold a Ruger American, the stock is junk and the mags are crap.

Not even a question Tikka......

I bought a T3xlite compact 243 for my son after doing a lot of research and fingering many rifles. What really surprised me was how much the recoil was exaggerated by the light weight and short stock. 7mm-08 is going to have up to 50% more recoil than 243. I'm not sure how old you're daughter is but unless you're hand loading, the recoil could be too much.
Replace the crappy Tikka butt pad with a limbsaver airfit would be my top suggestion in any caliber youth rifle.

I went with the tikka for my small framed 13yr old daughter and it comes with a spacer to lengthen the LOP for when i use it , 243 compact tack driver

I’d like a 20” 243 Tikka myself, but am wondering if a 6 CM is coming to town anytime soon.

Picked up a Black Friday $249 2.5-10 UL just for occasion. Will play with the RAR for now.

I went with the T3x compact in 7mm-08 for my petite daughter. It is light enough to backpack and the Hornady reduced recoil loads make the recoil tolerable.

I tried a Howa 1500 before and it was a boat anchor by comparison. Sold the Howa and went with the Tikka and haven’t looked back.
