Ruger 77/17 Hornet

I have a couple different .17 cal cleaning rods one is a Gunslick carbon fiber rod the other is a Montana X-treme. I've had the CF one from Gunslick the longest and never had any issues but I've heard of them breaking and spearing the user so I really don't use that one anymore and would have a hard time recommending it. The Montana X-treme 17 cal cleaning rod I use now is a nice high quality product.

These 17 cal cleaning rods are obviously tiny little things and the flex/bow a good amount when pushing a patch through the barrel especially on the first couple patches down the bore so I highly recommend using a bore guide. A proper fitting bore guide will support the rod and help keep it straight so when you are pushing a brush through the bore it doesn't yaw and put more pressure on one side or the other.
Do you happen to know where to get a bore guide that will work for the ruger 77/17 in 17 hornet? Thanks

I just freehand it...... It's easy to just look in the port and line it up by eyeball.

update. I picked up another ruger last week. Took it outta the fugly green plywood and modified a walnut 77/22 sporter stock to fit. Added a Jard pound and a half trigger to replace the 5 pound plus factory abortion. It's now a certified killa.....

Good deal, and thanks for the reply! I’m gonna look at getting one of those triggers. Also, what height rings are those? Thanks again!

Those rings were a spare set of blued ruger lows that I had squirreled away.. The bolt rubs on the ocular cover, so I have a set of Warne ruger mediums inbound. I have several set up with the Warnes.... I prefer them over leupolds.

Nice! I didn’t know Jard offered a trigger and bought a rifle basix for mine though I haven’t switched it yet. I didn’t like the rifle basix I put in a 6 cm Ruger but we’ll see… I bought my rifle from a buddy’s buddy and was told there was only 150 rounds through the gun, but after running 30 patches through it yesterday of eliminator and one other, it was still dirty… I took it out for the first time with reloads in a 35+ mph wind/lightning storm and got challenging results, but objective was met to shoot first reloads… do you have more success with the 20s or 25s? I’ve got a few 20 practicals that I’ve shot for years and am new to centerfire 17s, though have HMRs and WSMs… I’m looking for more MV/wind bucking.
I started with the 20 gr vmaxes w 1680 and rem 7 1/2… but didn’t see anything promising last night and need to get out again.

The more I see of the smaller Ruger 77s, the more I'm keen to pick one up to complement my boat paddle M77

I have a savage 25 in 17 hornet. Yes, it's not a super strong ejector. Extractor works great, I just tip it to the side and catch the brass, cause I reload them.

Accuracy wise, its probably the most accurate rifle I own and I have a collection of tikka bolts, some customs, and other fine shooters. That little 17 just stays in the same hole.

Savage is definitely not the pretty rifle with tons of chassis and aftermarket support, but it feeds, fires, and hits the target! Im told there is an ejector upgrade, but mine works.

The new can for the hornet was approved this afternoon. I have a B&T Tiger ordered, but it's still a week or two out. So I grabbed a Topo22 in the mean time. Surprisingly, it is quieter than the Polonium K I had on it, despite the volume difference. It is a lot quieter than the rimfire cans I tried. A pic of a Hux, Mask and an OCL Ti to compare. And one next to the polonium....
