Fairly new to reloading (1 year). I made a complete rookie move this afternoon. I load for 223 ( AR15) and 6.5 Creedmoor (bolt gun).

My local bass bro keeps all primers behind the gun counter and takes them up front for you and you check out through the customer service.

I asked for a brick of CCI 400’s for my 223 load. Got home and start to put everything in the safe and see that I actually was given CCI 450’s. My fault for not verifying at the customer service desk. All primers sales are final and I cannot return.

My question is am I safe to use these 450’s. My current load is Starline brass, 22.5 Gr of Varget and 73 Gr ELDM with the 400’s and my rifle likes it.

Any one use them for this combination of powder and bullet.

Thanks for your help

I would work back up to be on safe side, but you should be ok with same load.

I only use 450’s in my 223 loads (bolt and gas gun). I’ve read (on this forum) the 400s are thin and the 450s are safer primer for a gas gun as well. For me, it’s nice because I only need 1 primer for my 6 arc and 223. I also am using Starline brass for my 223 bolt and AR.

No issues using the 450s. Load and shoot away.
