Hey everyone,

I know this has been talked about a little bit, but I thought I would ask again for the sake of discussion.

I’m wondering what roof top tent guys are running for pickups. There are so many options it makes my head spin and I don’t know exactly what difference it makes being on a truck.

I’m highly interested in getting into one this spring. While a proper camper sure would
Be nice, I’m afraid I just don’t have the space in my current situation for when it isn’t on the truck.

Mainly I want somthing to keep the grizzly’s off and the girlfriend comfortable, over then the floorless argali stove tent. I’m a tall fellow, if it matters.

Welcome any recommendations

I put an iKamper sky camp on top of my leer topper for the fall. I believe it’s a king sized sleeping area. I’ll usually double up the pads and set up a cooking and storage area to the side. Buddy heater with the windows cracked and it’s plenty warm down into the teens.

Marketplace has lots of them for sale for pretty cheap compared to new.

if I were doing it again I would try and get a hard shell tent. They are lower form factor and the hard shell offers extra protection.

Otherwise get what fits your budget. I had a Smitty Built tent and “upgraded” to a CVT. I can’t tell much of a difference.

Tuffstuff Ranger 65 on a Tacoma with a bedrack. Works great for me and has a built in 3" foam pad. Plenty of blankets to stay warm but Im going to get a diesel heater to upgrade. Only downside is bad wings make for sleepless nights.
