RokStok

I'd love to see that video. Or maybe even a new thread dedicated to that? Would be super helpful.
For sure. Form did post a video on it here but it’s easy for stuff to get buried in this thread.

I could easily do a video shooting in the mountains and showing how I do it when I’m back from Hawaii.

For me it’s the same hand position for seated off pack with tall front rest, kneeling off pack with front rest, seated with no front or rear rest, prone with bino harness on chest as rear rest (once I learned this from Form it’s my go to when prone is an option).

There are other shooting positions where the off hand moves up somewhere to the foreend but in general, as often as possible, controlling the rear of the gun via the toe with off hand is ideal.

I’ll make a video in a couple weeks and make a new thread when I’m back. Or if @Formidilosus can make a thread while I’m gone that would work.

@PNWGATOR would be another who could show his off hand work for various shooting positions using the rokstok.

That's awesome, that whole thread looks like gold, thank you.

That would be much appreciated. Any little salami slice of technique, insights, or drills you guys are doing at S2HU would be killer.

Just to be clear to all here, I’m not affiliated with S2HU and have never attended any of their programs.

I’m happy to share what works for me and some of the things I’ve taught over the years to help other hunters/shooters, but if you’re looking for “official” S2H processes and procedures I’m not your guy; despite our fundamentals on most things shooting being very closely aligned in general.

Has anyone had any issues with their tikka safety not working when they put their action in a rokstok? i thought i was going crazy till i spent an hour with various bottom metals and actions and the problem persists.

if i put an action in the stock with the safety "off", i can't get the safety "on" and to the rear
"off"View recent photos.jpeg
"on" the safety lever doesn't move to the rear and the bolt still opens

conversely, if i put the action in the stock with the safety "on" and all the way to the rear, i can't get the safety "off" and the lever won't budge.

all this happens right after i get the action screws snug, doesn't matter which order i tighten them.

something about the inlet isn't true because just as i "snug" the screws, the action will twist in the stock. it's really visible because the bolt handle will rotate up quite a bit.

I'm no expert but could be that the action screws are too long. If the screws go too deep in the action it will start to lift the bolt and bolt becomes stuck or hard to manipulate.
