I would also be interested in knowing if I could add spacers myself or if I need to send in. My stock has Philips heads.

I added spacers to mine. Just needed longer screws. I wasn’t even aware of the need to send to UM. Haven’t had any issues yet, but it hasn’t been abused to hard.

I was with Jake and Ryan today. We spoke about the mods that have to be done for the spacers. I believe they are going to look to adding threaded nuts in all stocks as soon as they can, so that people can add spacers if they wish. It will add .25” to the LOP- so base LOP with be 13.75”. This should not be an issue, as they way the stock is designed, it allows a significantly longer LOP for people than normal.
So there won't be a 13.5 LOP option at all for us short guys going forward? Including the ones that will be available when orders open up in Feb/March?

No, I’m sure they could be special ordered without the spacer setup.
Have you used a ROKStok?

I’m assuming by the fact so many are adding spacers that with this particular stock most people are preferring a little longer lop than what we’ve used in the past from McMillan manners etc. I’m also assuming that if a guy(me grin) is interested in a wood version in the future that it is a good investment to get the regular stock first get lop nailed down with spacers and then order the wood version at that lop with no spacers.

Yes. The way the stock is designed, longer LOP is less of an issue than in other stocks. Quite the opposite- almost everyone is better suited to .5” to 1” longer LOP than normal.

If this is the case, why was 13.5 the chosen starting length?
Measuring my LOP the "traditional" way, ie 90 degree bend bend in elbow, and measuring from the crook to the trigger finger, I get 12.5". What can I say, I'm 5'6" and have T-rex arms.

Edit: sorry, lol, thought Form was asking me why I thought 13.5 was my correct LOP. Apparently I need more coffee.

Let’s use the most obvious- look how many simple things that people can’t or won’t understand so far. Now imagine trying to educate people that a 14” LOP is better. You come out with a stock- especially one that looks different, AND you come out with a 14” or 14.5” LOP…. Yeah, no one buys it.
Also at the time, “we” didn’t know that adding spacers would be a hassle.

Highly doubt you would have a problem at all even at 14” LOP with a ROKStok.

Would those of us with longer LOPs be better off with 15-16+” LOP rifles or is there a point of diminishing returns?

I haven’t seen the need for that long. I have one at 14.5”, and even mid 6 footers shoot it well.

I'm shooting a rokstok at 14.5 LOP(I'm 6'7"). Even the short people that have shot it ( @Mountain_Life haha) seem to prefer it over no spacers. On the other hand I could shoot it without LOP spacers but found it to be very uncomfortable.
