That was a preproduction no grip model. I have a production model, the leather is “baseball glove” leather and is kind of tacky and feels good in the hand even when wet.
I need to paint the bare carbon, it gets super hot when out in the sun.

You can say their carbon quality is as good as Sako? Or just the design is better on the rok? Just be truthful. Also since you shot the 90 do you agree it’s better than factory Tikka design and material?

Give an accurate perspective. Your all function over form so not hard to see how you’re steering this. You could care less about it’s quality fit or finish so long as it works and easy to see why, in a day it looks like hell, all good not afraid to beat on my stuff either. But I a out spit out my coffee when someone thought Stocky’s carbon was good enough to go on a Sako. That’s funny sh1t. And can you blame a guy who’s spent some money and read 400 pages with much of the same? I didn’t have to say sh1t, it’s already been said, just addressing from my Stocky’s and Sako experience to the guy who entertained the thought of that combo.

Good job on the design. I’ll wait a bit to see if the quality will be Tikka worthy.

Question on action screws. I started trying to diagnose why i was having so much trouble getting my magazine to seat on one barreled action when I hadn't previously had the same trouble with another. I think the issue was the magazine retention spring just being slightly canted. I used a 7/16" open ended wrench to hold the spring in place and it seems to have helped some. My next issue came when I tried install a third barreled action and when I torqued to just 45 in/lbs the bolt would not close, I was probably 1/4"-1/2" from the cut for bolt handle. My initial assumption, since the blockage appeared to be towards the front of the action, was a front action screw issue. Now I think its a rear action screw problem and likely need to just shorten it some. Anyone else having issues like this? Factory bottom metal.

I had the same issue with Rear magazine retention spring. Had to square it up and added .002 shims under the front of the bottom metal.

Hey all, I have a question regarding Tikka Rokstock versus Remington 700 footprint ones.

Does one or the other inherently have more risk of requiring additional gunsmithing (i.e. inletting, bedding, fixing pillar heights etc)?

I was thinking of buying a Bergara Wilderness Sierra in 7 PRC, which gives me a heavier, shorter barrel than a Tikka, and thus bypasses the need for a chop/thread or rebarrel.

Anyone care to provide some insight? I apologize if this has already been asked. I admit that I have not read every page of this thread.

Yes. The R700 has a higher chance of needing/benefitting from some level of fitment. The issue is that while they all state “R700 pattern”, there are enough differences in lots/most actions to benefit from fitting and/or bedding.
