I can understand the apprehension, to a lesser degree than Coyote, from a logistical standpoint. Stockys CS is great, I’ve got experience there. I’m sure UM is awesome as well. The fact is though that sending stuff back and forth from the north, Canada for sure, is a pain in the ass. Spend a couple extra $$$ in freight going back for a fitment or other avoidable QC issue and a cheap item becomes an expensive one in a hurry. Not to mention when UPS or FedEx or contract bush carrier loses/crushes your package. We would rather pay more for something that isn’t going to be sent back or butchered up to make work.

I think you're just here fishing to get a free rokstok.....
ooh, is that an option?, send me one, I'll document it and share, a lot more gently than the main equipment abuser around here does, I'm just looking at options for the backup tikka to my sako, for the kids and a buddy hunt etc., it won't be my primary ride but be a heckuva Finnish pair of 308's to choose from, if works out I'll send the money for it or send it back to um...open

truth be told I'm trying to share and pump up my little network to all this new stuff, gear, methods, why, etc. so I'm not the only run in the crew running at the front the pack of collective current understandings of the game, so the tikka would be the main driver to take my peeps out and get them experiencing it, would like to get the gen2 swfa 6 on it, already have a kilo5k to drive it...just need some um love in rings and stock, the scope when it lands and I do have one little issue with the 308 still though...I have high desert bottom metal and factor mags but it smashes the living fack out of eldm tips in the mag so I need a alum mag, it drills 165 fusions into smaller groups than my 90 peak drives 168 eldm, they are close but the tikka a bit tighter...shit bc though and the critters run more, I'm setting my ruger mdt grendel for said teaching purpose anyway so not necessary, the tikka would be more the backup compliment/sidekick/share hunting to my 90 being in my hands fulltime

well problem is I like the tikka stock, feels awesome to me, love vertical grip and I shoot it well, it's just a little kicky, it was eye opening shooting it against the lighter 90 peak and then seeing the difference in the design...so unless I can make jump to this more radical of the same type of 'design' to try it out without spending sako level money as I've already gone part way there on the design by spending sako money, but at least matching a more factory consistency level of what comes of the box to match the tikka at it's level....then that's all I'm watching for
That's fantastic, that you like the Tikka stock. This thread is about the Rokstok.

So will Vortex optics. Lol. I wish more companies would just make it right the first time.
I thought the same thing but from a different angle.
When something has to be sent back to Vortex and they do a great job of taking care of it, it’s still junk.
But when Stocky’s does it, that’s amazing service??

I do agree 100% that I wish companies would just do it right the first time.

The difference is that Vortex products are flawed in design/function.

Stocky’s is not, but occasionally experiences QC issues typically related to aesthetics.

That’s a huge distinction.

Okay. Which one is worse??
Which one of those 2 scenarios you mention is acceptable and which one isn’t?
Both are resulting in a returned product that didn’t meet the satisfaction of a paying customer.
But Vortex=junk and
Stocky’s=great customer service.

One gets grilled and one gets applauded.

Same exact scenario, no.
Similarities, absolutely.

Stocky’s “occasionally QC issues typically related to aesthetics” among other things has rokstocks running 275 days past the original 90 day delivery date. With the first round of orders projected to be filled in February, if there are no other delays or issues. Which given the history of the product seems very optimistic. I would call that slightly more then occasionally.
I hope they get it all figured out and they are as great as promised. My patience ran out a while ago and UKN was easy to work with about canceling my order. It is ok to call a spade a spade when appropriate.

Part of it I do see as acceptable though. I mean, in the case of the Rokstok, what other carbon fiber stock can you buy new for $500? And for a VG, $350 - $400 new. The nearest option to either of these is a poorly designed Pure Precision stock for $680. Or a Peak 44, McMillan, or Manners for $800+.

Stockys = minor aesthetic imperfections that they’ll rectify

Vortex = product doesn’t work and they’ll replace with another one that doesn’t work

If you don’t see the fundamental difference you’re crazy haha. They’re not even in the same vein.
