Rokstok Lite

I'd prefer the pachmeyer. Maybe make that a question to ask when the stock is arrived at UM and ready to get finished. On my previous stocks, I got an email or phone call confirming details. Depending on potential delay time, I might wait or swap over to a kickeze.

Hey All,

For those who are waiting on their Carbon Fiber Lites, I wanted to get your opinion.

For context, we've had some trouble sourcing Pachmayr grind to fit recoil pads as of the last few months. The 1" pad has been more difficult than the 0.5". We are currently looking into Kickeez pads and some others that are a similar level of quality.

Assuming we were able to obtain these consistently, would any one object/care if we used them for current and future lites? If anyone wants to wait, thats understandable, but we just want to get these in your hands ASAP.

Have you guys ever looked into these pads? Not sure if they are big enough for your application.

I would be OK with a Kick-eez, so long as it is reasonably durable and provides some measure of mitigation for perceived recoil.

Whatever is a 1” pad is my recommendation.

Could the backfire recoil pads be an option? I haven’t used them yet but they seem to be a good option and I’m about to buy a couple for my regular rokstocks
They are not good, but spend your money how you see it.

Do what you have to do.

I'm good with the substitution. Order #0050.

Anyone tried a MDT Carbon? They just became available with a Tikka inlet in left hand.
30oz with bottom metal, flush cups, integrated Arca. Expensive but available.
I shot a MDT carbon on a buddies Tikka a couple weeks back.

Shootability is fine but I’m so used to the rokstok design that it feels a bit funky at first.

I have a very wide and long palm and even for me the grip was too wide and forced my trigger finger and thumb into a less than ideal shooting position. The “thumb shelf” is a swing and a miss for how I shoot.

For hunting type shooting those crazy high adjustable cheek pieces cause more issues and bad habits than they solve.

The adjustable height butt stock works fine but still doesn’t replace a true negative comb stock like a Rokstok as far as recoil mitigation goes. I also don’t like any moving parts in a stock in general. A proper folder is nice but there isn’t an excellent one that exists yet.

The back section is designed to “bag ride” and is uncomfortable for how I shoot with offhand between the stock and rear rest. If you like to grab a bag and the stock together, which doesn’t always work well, you’ll probably like the “notch” feature for shooting with a rear rest that way. I personally don’t shoot that way.

Bottom metal and overall stock quality did seem very nice. I paint penned and torqued his action screws to 65” lbs for him since he had them at 35” lbs. Stock seems very solid and in general, build quality and fit and finish on the MDT are a step above a Stockys stock.

In general, for most realistic hunting field shooting, you’ll “fight the stock” a bit more compared to say a Rokstok. It’s not bad, and would probably be a viable choice for PRS and NRL type stuff if that’s your thing.
