Rokstok Lite

Can't get over how raising the toe line above the bottom of the grip completely transforms how this stock is perceived. At least in my eyes. I think if that were to have been the first model to come out, there wouldn't have been as many people shy away due to aesthetics.

Not sure the few ounces is worth it to me over the normal rokstok but it's certainly tempting.

A few words on the Lite.

The ROKStok is very versatile in feel and balance- from 14” to 26” barrels it does well. With 16-20” being optimum for feel for most setups. The Lite is different. While one can put any length and weight barrel they want in it, some very clear trends have shown. When the initial three stocks were made, pretty quick the “optimum” rifle setup in the lite showed clearly. Close to 10,000 rounds and 4 rifles later- it’s even more clear.

The optimum setup- that is weight, stability- standing offhand, rested, bagged, etc; is a 16” barrel with suppresor. 18” is fine too, but it’s noticeably better with a 16” barrel and can. Ironically, while a T3 lite contour is really good in it, the Roughtech D18 weight at 16” is noticeably better.

The Rokstock lite with slightly heavier than T3 lite barrel, 16” with light and short can, and 20-26oz low mounted scope- is the best balanced and feeling 8lb “hunting” rifle I’ve ever shot or used. It just “hangs” on target offhand, and is absolutely dead on a bag or pack. It’s quite silly.

The combo is so subtly, but noticeably correct, that the upcoming Corax rifles suggested or “standard” combination when paired with the Lite stock will be a 16” barrel of a specific contour that provides that balance and feel. When combined with a 25oz scope, NF rings, and 6-7oz suppressor it will be all together right at 8lbs.

Would you want that barrel length at 17" or 18" if using an OTB can like the OG or OG65?

What amount of recoil / cartridge cutoff would you assign to the rifle as described here?

With that setup- haven’t seen the upper limit. A 7mag is still a 7mag, but with the stock and short barrel it’s about as good as it will be at that weight.

I think awhile back Avery said up to 6um. But, I think he and maybe form have said 6xc/6cm/243 are ideal

No. 16”. Shorter is better.

I have no real experience with the rokstock or rokstock lite. I did happen to be at the UM shop the other day when the delivery truck brought some goodies though.

One of the guys brought out both a rs and rs lite for me to check out...(I didn't ask he just said you gotta check these out) lol.

They seemed pretty slick. Personally I was drawn more towards the original rokstock, but both were pretty cool.

If y'all read between the lines on Form's post, some are putting too much value in the options and missing the point on the purpose of the stock.

You don't need the ARCA rail and all the attachments and doo dads for this stock and you want a short barrel.

I shoot off a tripod a fair amount of time. Honestly, my lightweight bipod is used as a “kickstand “most of the time, as utilization of a bipod prone shots is rare.
If I ever get into a Shoot2Hunt class, I’m sure my wayward ways will be straightened out.

Same I practice off a tripod weekly.
But I’m seeing that a bag on my tripod rather than an arca clamp is just as stable for my seated tripod shots.

I’m not saying that’s the only way, but rather an acceptable way.
Trying to make the Rokstok lite into a tactical chassis just feels like trying to force a square peg into a round hole.

I think the following 3 stocks fit on a spectrum:
You have the minimalist mindset of the Rokstok lite, vs a fully featured KRG bravo. With the Rokstok and a rail somewhere in between.
You can pick exactly the type of stock that fits how you are going to employ your rifle.

If it’s accessory heavy, go with the bravo.
If it’s a pure improvised position field shoot, go with the RS lite and run it slick.
If it’s a mix, the standard RS will handle the torque of the bolt mounts better.

Just my thoughts on picking a tool for a job.

Shoot2Hunt's primary issues with tripods are two-fold.

1. Time, most hunters take a loooong time to get setup on a tripod. I watched(timed) hereinaz go from pack on hiking sticks in hand, to making first hit off the tripod standing in 55sec. the tripod was deployed maybe 10seconds after he touched it. Cause he's practiced it a lot. and the ground was flat. most guys who don't practice take multiple minutes to get a tripod shot setup.
2. a crutch that prevents from learning other, and faster support positions and can lead to reaching for the tripod all the time even if there are other better options available.

I was eye-opened over the weekend to the value of tripod stability for a standing shot. Maybe I'll get there off of sticks someday like Form can but where I'm at currently I might be good wobble zone to about 400 on two crossed hicking sticks. rifle on a tripod and one stick for rear suppourt I'm good about as far as I am prone, say 700+ if the wind isn't tricky, cause I still suck at wind pretty hard. it costs time to setup, but if you have the time, the stability is excellent and there's a place for it, if you practice and you've got the time.

I think the "cost" of having an arca on the forend is so minimal it's an obvious choice to me to have that option. Especialy so if it's designed well and fits flush/smooth then the only downside is a few $$

I live in the desert and deal with tall sage brush, so a tripod works in that application. A 6UM in the Rokstok or Lite will be my primary deer, elk, antelope, and African game rifle. I don’t see the downside of running an Arca on it other than a few extra onces?

For those of us poor souls that can't use suppressors and rebarrelling a Tikka in a RokStok Lite, what would you recommend for contour (lite or D18) and length? 22 cal or small 6mm if it matters. All else being the same, scope, rings etc. Thank you!
