Rokstok Lite

Since it’s Christmas and I want to start putting in my wishes for Christmas next year…

Can we please get a folding Rokstock? Particularly the lite? Something designed like the Manners folding mechanism? That would put it on par weight wise (or maybe less) than a Hnt26 but with better ergonomics. And I don’t even care if it added significantly to the price (would probably still be cheaper than the chassis for sale out there). The only reason I have a chassis is for the folding mechanism. Besides that, for me, the chassis offers me very little. Folded for hiking in the nasty thick stuff, then normal for everything else. It’s what my dreams are made of.

So Santa, or Santa’s elves, what would it take to make my Christmas wish come true?

My wish was for the RS Lite to have a proper default LOP (>14”) without the need for spacers, but it sounds like that ship has already sailed.

I wonder if UM has kept metrics for spacer installs on the Rokstok. It seems like a lot of users have requested longer LOPs when purchasing, or returned their stocks to have spacer kits retroactively installed.

If a large proportion of Rokstoks are wearing stacks of spacers, wouldn’t it have been beneficial to incorporate a longer LOP as a design improvement for the new iteration?

Again- the consumers are by and large ignorant. Even when told, they ignore it because “14” plus LOP “is too long. On this forum where they have free and nearly unlimited access to the people that designed it, and have several hundred thousand rounds of experience with them- almost none of them listen.

A product has to be commercially viable for companies to take chances. If the RokStoks came standard with 14” LOP’s my guess is sales would drop by over 50%. Being that one can get a spacer system for the percentage that actually care and listen, it’s the viable way to do it.

In terms of the standard LOP thing Form is right about matching market demand. And them running two molds one with the base LOP short and another long would complicate production stocking etc on a product that is already hard to get, just not worth it from a business standpoint when spacers solve the problem (or on one of mine I swapped pads to the backfire one which also adds half an inch).

On a custom wood one I want it just right but what they are doing on the carbon ones makes more sense from a business stand point.

It's pretty simple for a consumer to add spacers and increase the LOP. Totally different story attempting to shorten it. Consumer psychology may be the bigger factor but shorter LOP also does serve the small stature consumer base.

I've always wanted increased LOP on every rifle and this was confirmed by S2H that 14.5 is clearly a better fit for me than 13.5. I've got monkey arms too though (5'11"H, 6'2"Wingspan) and now I've got Backfire pads on my Rokstoks so I'm at 15" now and like that even better. I don't feel motivated enough to try going even longer but maybe someday I'll get the itch.

The wood RSlite are INCREDIBLE, and you can order whatever LOP you want for $2k, but I'm too cheap so I'll just wait for a couple of CF's and stack them spacers up.

McMillan has teased a new folding stock on their instagram past couple weeks. Crossing my fingers it’s a Mountain Tracker LR w/ folder 🤞

On the lop topic I took the aftermarket limbsaver pad I had on my factory tikka stock and it screwed right onto my rokstok. Doesn't look perfect but works just fine and adds almost 1/2". I would have tried the Backfire pads but for some stupid reason he won't ship to Canada.

Add the tikka ctr cheek riser to any tikka stock and abra cadabra negative comb...
I wish the term “negative comb” would instantly ban someone on this site lol.

The most overthought, misunderstood, and misused “feature” of the Rokstok is because everyone is so obsessed with this term and overthinking what it “does” and “changes” to how a guy shoots.

Just lay down and shoot it and reap the benefits of how a field stock should be shaped for killing animals. That’s it.

If you want to try a Rokstok in several different cartridges and are ever in AZ send me a PM.
