Rokstok Lite

This is a Lite roughed out with a sporter channel. There is enough wood for both a rail or a Spartan cup if I epoxy the cup in.

HOWEVER, I would not recommend supporting the entire gun from the Spartan cup alone like locked in a tripod.

Remember, the primary goal with the Lite was to reduce it to bare minimum for weight reduction.

Flush cups can be done with any barrel channel if I know ahead of time so I can leave wood for them, same for a Spartan socket or rail.
To be clear, leaving wood for accessories adds weight, no free lunch here.

There is NOT enough wood for front accessories with the Sendero because there isn't enough wood for fasteners.

I can still do flush cups, just not rails/Spartan sockets.

So even the spartan gunsmith adapter requires the factory sporter channel? Appreciate the photos.
yes, especially the Spartan socket. It would just be a hole through the forend because it's deeper than the wood is. It would protrude into the barrel channel with proper 1-1.5 dead cat clearance.

This also creates the potential for an accidental twist on the socket to split the forend because it's been reduced to the extreme minimum and has a hole right in the middle of it.
Imagine drilling a hole and sticking a pry bar in it and twisting.

10-4. All the more reason for another regular wood rokstok for me 😎

Meanwhile this just reinforces what I’m looking for - light and simple. I honestly feel like the qd cups aren’t a need. I just want a sub 8lb total package with the advantages of the rokstok design
If the Spartan wasn’t the only viable hunting bipod capable of seated, kneeling, very steep angle, etc. shots and can be installed or removed in seconds, I wouldn’t even worry about it either.

Nothing is quicker to build this solid of a position yet (including trekking poles or shooting sticks)…

Im just hoping the CF version with the Sendero channel can have a sling swivel cause I'm a heathen that uses Harris bipods.

Jay
I mean if you’re gonna use a traditional bipod for hunting, at least it’s not some of these goofy new style units that completely suck.

But yes. You are heathen haha.

I’m trying to understand the implications of this for my order. I ordered a wood RokStok Lite with Trinity Rail and Flush Cups for my T3X .223 lite profile. I intended to use it with a MDT GRND-POD bipod at least part of the time. Should I change my order to a regular wood RokStok?

I get it - I’ve messed with their system and some of the stuff oriented in the mil line, as well as their tripod system that allows you to shoot from the two legs of tripod. Very handy - but it’s just one more thing to add or remember for my hunts. Trekking poles get used for hiking, shooting, quick glassing (wise precision Bino clamp FTW) and my lightweight tent or bivy. One of the few things that does a lot of things well on a hunt.

Off hand, shooting off backpacks and hiking sticks.
Whenever I've shot off of my pack or QuickStix, I almost always have them at the balance point of the rifle. I don't think I've ever shot off of them as a front rest only.

I've been shooting a good bit with my ULUL AR15 that only has a 7.5" handguard. I've had no problem resting that on any support.

We are also shorter-statured shooters, so we aren't running our bipods at the max distance anyways.

I feel like on flat ranges that works really well. For me, I use that extra forend on steep angle shots.
