Keep this up and you might sell me on a sexy walnut version. The last wood stocked bolt action I owned was in the late 80s.

My Ultra5 works great. So does my Ultra7, and my Scythe Ti I’m getting soon will probably work great too.How are those 7-8oz Ti cans working so far for people…. And, something optimized for a 6UM is larger, not smaller than something for a 6 or 6.5cm, 308, etc. As for length- it’s 4” in front of the muzzle- there isn’t a true hearing safe 4” can on the market.
This can isn’t going to please everyone- it was never meant to. It is being made with specific set of requirements that fit what is needed or lacking for most hunters.

I think the OTB cans are going to be a great solution for a lot of hunters. I’m just hopeful someone will develop a purpose-built backcountry hunting can for 223 or 6mm.
.
What do you believe that looks like?
Yea I’ve been keeping a close eye on that thread. We’ll see. I won’t be shooting my 18” 7PRC out of it.There’s a bunch of people that aren’t so happy with their failed Scythe’s.

A DD Wolfhunter is real close to what you’re asking for. Within 1/2” of the Scythe, the same weight after the some carbon built up in the Scythe (8.7 oz each) and very quiet.I think a 556/6 bored scythe w flush front cap, 556/6 bored raptor 4 w 3" reflex, or 556/6 flush raptor 6, or 556/6 bored UM would be great.

The UM over barrel would be a great match to it. The Wolfhunter for practice & maximum suppression and the UM for hunting.
I’m hopeful for something like the Silencer Central Banish Speed K Ti. Just not from SC…
I just want the lightest possible can for a 22CM. Nothing exists yet. The Ultra 5 is 8.3oz with the Non-Timed Brake. If they changed the thread to a true direct thread and made it a 223 bore, it’d be perfect. Probably would be about 6.5oz.If that is what you are looking for, we disagree on what “optimized” means I suppose.
223 AB Raptor 6. 6.85 oz, 5.5 inches.I just want the lightest possible can for a 22CM. Nothing exists yet. The Ultra 5 is 8.3oz with the Non-Timed Brake. If they changed the thread to a true direct thread and made it a 223 bore, it’d be perfect. Probably would be about 6.5oz.

While not “official”, the UL 5 was 4 dB louder 1m left of shooters ear than the UM can and 6 dB louder than the UL 7. If the UL5 is 133dB, then the UL 7 is 127dB…. It’s not.
Where are you suggesting the discrepancy is coming from and why would TBACs number not be correct?
They annotated that for shooters ear they measure according to MIL-STD-1474E, which I think means 6" from the ear closest to the source on an axis connecting the two ears. This is not 1m to the left of the ear. Looking at their summit studies, 1m left of muzzle values don't seem to always correlate exactly with ear values (1 can of 2 being much louder at muzzle than the other but both cans being the same at shooters ear). So perhaps the values between theirs and yours are different due to ear mix location?
They also stated that it's 133 for 20" 308 and 130 for 24" 6.5cm.
They state the ultra 7 is 126 for shooters ear on shooting 24" 6.5cm. which is close to what you suggested, 124.
What about the Exo guys? Then go with that.
Not one person I know that owns a UL 5 that I shoot with (which is a lot), is happy with it.
Opinion follows: It is the loudest, most obnoxious suppressor that is supposedly hearing safe on the market. It possibly could be a frequency thing, but it absolutely requires hearing protection when shooting it- most I know won’t even hunt with theirs anymore for that reason.
What does making it 223 bore do?…and made it a 223 bore

What does making it 223 bore do?
I have not ever been able to tell a difference between smaller caliber cans and .30cal cans of the same make/model. For that reason I just went .30cal.
