Rokslide Special 223 recipe

Sorry if I'm ignorant but...I was certain you should anneal before sizing? Are you annealing right before the mandrel to minimize spring back for neck tension?
From what I understand it doesn’t really matter when you anneal in the process as long as you do it. May be wrong but that’s the general consensus based on my research.

Scoped the chamber. Here is the end of the chamber going into the lands. Going to test some 450s and supressor on and off hopefully tomorrow.

I finally figured out my pressure issue. At the time I resized my cases for their second loading I didn’t have a shoulder bump comparator for the 223 and hadn’t received my competition dies yet. Used standard redding 223 dies. Set them up the old school way. Ran the dies down to the shellholder, added about an 1/8th turn for a bit of camover on the press. Got my shoulder bump guage in and realized those Redding dies at that standard setting were pushing the shoulder back .014”. I think that was the pressure problem. Don’t know why the dies pushed it back that far. Switched to my competition dies, .002” shoulder bump. Problem solved and back to 24.5 grains Varget.

I asked in the 223 hunting thread but I figured this might be a better place. Has anyone compared loads using standard cheap bulk brass and something like Lapua brass. I know you can get the cheap brass to shoot good but was wondering if anyone seen any noticeable increase in accuracy and more consistent speeds with Lapua brass. I have a large supply of cheap brass that I am using right now and was debating picking up some Lapua brass for my target loads when I want to play at longer ranges on steel

I’m running this trap currently. No measurable difference in accuracy or ES/SD. And the brass will have to last 5x longer than my LC once fired/cleaned/sized I get for .15c a piece.

It may be because it isn’t fully formed yet, but in my 223ai, the LC expanded to 32.8gr capacity, the lapua 31.8.

I think the early returns for me are that it isn’t worth it in 223. Maybe the lapua will last 20 reloads though…
