To the Rokslide community,

First and foremost, this is an apology. I came home from a day of work and saw this thread to some horror. Holy hell. I cant even comment on my own original post.

What started as a seemingly harmless attempt to talk about training for mountain hunting, has turned into something that makes me concerned for my family and my personal safety. I owe an apology to the entire community here, but specifically first, I owe an apology to the first 2 commentors. They checked me and I tried to internet flex. They called me out on my hyperbole, and I tried to go over the top. That was mistake #1.

BReynoldsAK - I apologize. I should know better. Thanks for trying to check me. I'm sure I could learn alot from your experiences.

Coach Chris - I apologize. You checked me and I got boastful and prideful. You deserve respect. I gave you none.

To the rest of the community here, I had no idea what a strong knit community and place this is, and that's on me. I realize its a privilege to comment on the threads and buy gear here. I should have gotten that right away from the guidelines, but acted like some kinda tough guy internet troll within 3 comments. Truth be told, that's not me and I don't want to be that guy. I did train hard, did PR on bench pre season, and did put a ram in the dirt. That gives me no right to be some wise guy troll here. The Tommy the Cat bit clearly wasn't funny. Ive been told my jokes aren't very funny. Jokes aside, I apologize to this group for putting myself above any other person on here. That was extremely stupid, ego-driven and foolish. Thanks for "you all" that reached out honestly with a firm hand at first. I clearly have bitten off way more than I would hope to ever want to chew. Apparently I also decided to try and bite a ******* Grizzly bear. I own that. Pretty dumb.

After reading these comments I truly believe that none of you are average. In this group, I'm probably at the bottom with what i don't know and havent done yet in terms of big game hunting compared to most of you. I wrote checks my ass could not cash. That's pretty clear here.

If your out there hunting for your food in today's day, you definitely are not ******* average IMO that's for damn sure. That kinda person deserves respect, and "you all" deserve respect here. I have a ton to learn along this hunting journey and will remember this thread.. where it started and what it became. Think before i act. The hunt exposed some parts of my ego and I'm going to give them some good thought in 2025.

No excuses here. I can and will remove myself from the community here. Thanks for your time if you've read this far.

We all eat crow sometimes. You might like it here. In a few years you’ll be in the other side of this kind of thing.

You came in a little hot but it's not all on you.

It's cold as f in many places and a bit of a downtime for many. Some people were looking for entertainment and tried to fit you into that mold. I'd say shake it off and carry on.

Glad you posted this and I hope you are sincere. You did a very cool thing arrowing a sheep and a goat. If you would have just posted up your story and how you approached your fitness everyone here would have been congratulating you. You came in with an attitude and were met with resistance, as expected. We are all proud of our achievements, and some are more hard earned than others, but humility is something we all need in our lives.

Forgot to add, its not to late to post up your story and what you did to prepare.

Thanks for taking the time to listen/respond and giving a 2nd opportunity. I am 100% being honest here. As honest as the walking sprints I did this morning.

Apology accepted.

Had my finger on the ban button on day 1, but the entertainment value was just too good...

Anyway, welcome to Rokslide, and great job on your sheep with a bow. Impressive

That was a well done mea culpa.

I’d enjoy hearing about your hunts and preparations. I do not want to be force fed it. I’m always looking for little tidbits to improve myself and my outdoor experiences.

Showing my advanced age here but does your handle have anything to do with Van Halen?

Welcome to Rokslide. Glad to have you.

Like any other new place, often it takes a bit to get used to the specific nuances of the culture. This is a solid rebound post and there was no long term harm done. You'll do fine here.
