Rocky Talkie

The Rocky's work well, first hand experience in the Colorado rockies. For lower price and nearly identical performance, a Costco set of motorola's have supplemented nicely.

Rocky’s are how my buddies and I communicate all winter long while backcountry skiing, and that’s primarily around the Baker backcountry so anywhere from trees runs to big terrain, they’re great. I would happily trust them in the summer/ fall for hunting.

Ive used these on hunts out west. They work well if you are within a mile of eachother. If you are in view of eacahother I would think much further. We have had some times where the signal is rough but that is usually because one of us is down in some thick nasty bottom or something like that. Generally they work for about a mile id say in mountaineous terrain. Further if you have line of site or are both on a mountain top

main think I like about them is that if you arent talking all day on them they will last for the entire week (turning them off at night or when we are together). They are also super simple to use.
Finally, you can turn off the beep that it makes when you push the talk button. Learned that after our first trip. That beep is super loud and you will want to turn that off for sure!

Finally, we have beat ours pretty hard and had them in the wind, snow, rain, mud, etc. They are very durable which I like
