I’ve been shooting g trad for 39 yrs, and am pretty good at tuning bows. Recently been tinkering with the Grip Trigger. I really like the idea and when it works I really like how my shot feels. The problem for me so far is that I can’t get it to consistently go off at the right time. First off, I’m using tape to temporarily put it in place until I find that optimum location. I started using electrical tape because that’s what Tom Clum recommended in one of his videos. It keeps moving on me though. I tried blue painters tape, was a little better but still moved after 10 shots or so. Right now I’m using hockey stick tape, it works the best.

With the tape working better, I then started to notice the felt button keeps moving around on the trigger. Also, it tends to lean in one direction, which makes it less consistent at full draw/expansion.

I just bought some little plastic buttons off Amazon to try and improve on the felt button. I’m not ready to give up on this trigger because I believe it could be the best solution I’ve tried if I can just make it stay in one place.

I’m even thinking about cutting a small hole in the surface of the grip trigger so the button can sit down inside and be set in that location.
Has anyone got any tips, tricks or ideas that might help me get this thing to be more consistent?

What bow? Or grip style I guess? I could never get it to stay in place on a Bob Lee grip, and RMS told me the same. It was never a quick slip, like a bunch of torque on the grip that was a me thing, just a slow slide to the left(rh bow) until it would click. If it’s on something with a flat spot on the back like so many are these days, it could be a you thing, or a need a different size thing. I’d call them up, they’ll try their best to help you work it out.

I’ve tried it on several bows with different grip style including some that are very flat. Like with you, it moves slowly and after a half dozen shots it isn’t clicking the same draw length anymore.
Right now I’m trying some Sugru bow grip material. I shaped it into the size of a small button that hopefully will work better once it cures into shape.

What the heck?
How does it know when you are at the perfect DL?
It seems gimmicky to me.

Flick your wrist to reset it if it accidentally goes off....Ha....maybe it will work if you stick it to your cheek....grin....I should patent that idea.

It works better than I thought it would actually. Works best on low to medium, obviously. Takes some time to get set right for sure. Get it set right and when you’re expanding or whatever, it clicks. Kinda weird. It definitely makes me think about my grip and more importantly, my lazy ass bow arm. I can set a limb clicker, and if it doesn’t go off or if I’m having a hard time making it click, it’s always my stupid bow arm. For the record I’m the odd guy that doesn’t shoot at the click. I treat it like a safety I guess. Anchor, rough aim to click, like the aim(?) think about release. Takes way less time to do than type haha. I’m my head it’s like pulling on the wall on a compound. More like a Hoyt with the cable stops. With the grip trigger thing, yeah, if it goes off early I’m not good at all at resetting it. But it’s fine, like I said. Limb or grip, i have it set so when it goes off there isn’t much more to go before I’m going to rip the string off. Not really but you know. Now, if I hear it go off again that’s bad news and I’m collapsing.

Oh I forgot. I took a picture of how I have been setting it up on whatever bow. This ones a big stick hitman, so pretty flat grip. I said before my bob lees gave me a fit. I meant to do a set up like this, but with super thin leather, like an old wallet. It’s basically just adding more surface area for it to stay put with. This one is just grip tape with a piece cut out just the size of the metal click piece.

I think the Low grip might be a key factor. I mostly shoot med to high grips. I took my homemade grip off my tribute tonight and I think I could shoot it bare, which is about as low a grip can get. So I’m gonna play around with that, maybe wrap it similar to yours. Thanks for the advice.
Also, I noticed when I couldn’t get it to click at full draw, I still shot better because I was fully expanded trying to get that “click”. After 10-15 seconds I would just release the string. Had a lot of tight center target groups like that.

Yeah, I think too high and what are you trying to set it off with, the webbing of your hand? Down lower and your skin would be just trying to slide it into the throat of the grip it seems like. You definitely get an A for effort when you’re trying to get any clicker to go off. You do actually have to have it go off most of the time though, any clicker or sear, or what’s the point. I take them off, put something back on when I can tell I’m getting lazy or TP creeping back in. That’s more and more often these days damnit.
