I have a SWFA 6x42 on one my rifle, the scope is great and after an accidental drop from 3ft bench to the hard dirt it held zero and I trust its reliability. However, I am struggling with its eye placement/relief and looking for something better in optical clarity for a second scope.

Is there anything that comes close to Swaro optical quality and SWFA or Night Force reliability.

Close… but it’s not Swarovski. (It’s closer than the cost would suggest.

If you want Swarovski glass… you’re gonna have to buy Swarovski.

I would trust a Trijicon Accupoint or Credo on any of my rifles, including the 340 Wby.

Thanks, I have a brand new Swarovski - but reading here that they are no good when it comes to tracking zero, I am looking for something different. I wish SWFA made their class a little better and easy on eyes to look.

You’ll get “won’t track” stories about every brand. Put some rounds on paper and see for yourself. You may be happy with your Swarovski.

What is the problem you're having with optical clarity? I think the 6x42 is as clear as the Swaro Z3 I used to have. Not judging, just asking.

Its mounted on a tikka compact with sportsman rings, I am having eye relief issues to acquire target faster.

If glass quality is very important to you, try to take a look through a schmidt and bender klassik. If you need to dial, the “precision hunter” model is the same but has a exposed elevation turret. They make a 3-12 as well as various fixed magnifications. The only real criticism I have heard people have on these is that they only have a couple mils elevation travel so they are probably 500-600 yard max range scopes in most cartridges, but glass is in the swaro/leica category and by all accounts durability is there.

Edit: from the field evals forum on this site: https://www.rokslide.com/forums/threads/schmidt-and-bender-klassik-8x56mm-field-eval.248421/

Thanks, I am considering S&B 3-12 as well, the manufacturer said with the external turrets it gives 3.2MRAD adjustments. 500 yards range should work for me.

Reliability, ruggedness and top tier glass look at S&B and also Tangent Theta, I believe they still make a lighter hunting line.

minox zp5 is the obvious choice for a drop-tested scope with great glass. The price is a bit much to stomach though.
