I am not selling it, it is already sold to a friend.

I bought this about 10 years back from a guy getting divorced for like 1k. I put it in the safe and forgot about it. I cleaned out the safe and a buddy saw it and wanted it. I don't want to short myself or overcharge him. I saw a similar one on gun broker for 2200, but it had a nicer scope. What's a fair price?

Thank you in advance!

Looks like a VTR that somebody dropped into a B&C stock. I used to put things like together all the time back 10-15 years ago. Has it had any custom work like a blueprinted action? factory trigger?

I honestly don’t know. We were hunting and he got a divorce and was moving. He needed money so I bought it. I didn’t really want it. I think there was some trigger work done, not sure about the action.

Probably in the 1,000 to $1,300 range just because it’s the big R pre-buyout, but not more because it’s still post-freedom group. Due to this you may see some listed at silly high numbers.

It’s from a time where Remington wasn’t very highly regarded as putting out a quality product, in comparison to the competition.

That being said it has the potential with some work and customization to be excellent, and even so as it sits it’s most likely a fine rifle.

I’d be happy to get my money back and be done with it.
I was thinking about a thousand bucks. In my dads safe I have a Remington from that same time frame, an sps tactical (20” heavy barrel) 308 in a B&C stock, a bit of trigger work and a scope about equal to that one. If I was going to sell it, I’d be happy with a thousand dollars.

I remember looking at one of these when they came out but went with the sps tactical if I remember. I think they were $650ish new. If you got your 1k back I’d be happy.

Looks like a VTR in a B&C medalist stock. Pretty sure the VTR Tactical came factory set up like that.

I’d say asking for the $1k you spent would be fair. That’s probably the top end of it’s used value in my opinion.

Might be a good shooter with the 5r barrel.

Found an old listing on here for one.

They came with a green and black plastic stock, the one in the pics may have had the barrel chopped, those triangle barrels came with ports built into the top edge of the triangle barrel. We had/have one in 223. Those adjustable bell and Carlson stocks were right around 400 bucks back in ~ 2010.

You’ll find if you look up “Remington 84456” that they came outfitted pretty well as the OP pictured.

Nothing overly special about any of it. 6-700 sounds reasonable. Personally I'd have a hard time selling it to a friend for 1000 bucks.
