So I am building a rem 700 and I am about to mount the scope but was wondering if the scope to barrel gap is too small? It’s very close, Im worry about the barrel whip and it hitting the scope. Any thoughts?

You shouldn't have any issues with scope touching the barrel. I don't on a 6.5CM that's probably a little closer than that (2 dollar bills clearance). It consistently shoots in the .4s. You will have issues with caps, bikini covers and scope coats.

Yeah I planed on not running scope caps and just using a scope coat.

A scope coat still needs to fit around the objective bell, and in fact is thicker than most flip caps.

This gap may work just fine, but it’s too tight for me. I’d go to a taller ring.

Best way to test it is by shooting it. It looks like there is plenty of clearance though. Your stock looks solid as well, so you shouldn't have flex in your barreled action either.

Leupold alumina caps will screw in to the bell and you’re good to go. Just have to install before mounting the scope.
