Ive been talking with Rich Moran out of Alaska on a backpack hunt for sheep since I am a nonresident up there. Has anyone here heard of him and his outfit? Seems bare bones but a serious guy. Any and all feedback is welcome before traveling and entrusting my safety and dollars with a guy.

Thanks!
Will

I have seen him refered to only a couple times. Once on here last year.

He looks like a fun guy to go moose hunting with. Link

What are your expectation and requirements for a sheep hunt? Bow or rifle hunting, thing like that, etc? There are some outfitters I would recommend, and there are some I would stay away from.

I am lookin for a bow hunt primarily. Im not worried about legging out extra work. Ive done a little research on Rich and am trying toearn more. The unit would be 14c which I understand can get some bad resident traffic near the roads but he likes to pack in and stay away from there. Any trip to Alaska or NWT can be adventure so I take that into account. Its just my dream to get a dall. I would love for a combo trip of some kind too.

14C is draw only. If your a certified bow hunter you have a good shot at a permit, they give out quite a few of those for the late archery season.

I looks like there is a total of 12 NR drawing permits in 14C Season. Four of those are certified bow only. Draw rates are low for these NR permits.

Even though I have read the guide requirements I do not understand them completely. I looks like you will need a dated agreement before the deadline coming soon. So you will need something from someone that can operate in this unit.

Thank The Lord I live here and don't have to mess with this stuff.
