My dad bought this S&W .38 maybe back in the 70s early 80s. He passed away in 2012. I let my stepdad have it as then I wasn’t into revolvers. He passed away last year. Now I’m getting interested in them and picked a ruger GP 100 .357.
Anyway, I’m trying to figure out what model this S&W is. I want to change out the “pimp grips” for sure.
Serial # BRY7418

Don't change the grips til up shoot it with them , they look like they would work well. Looks like a model 36 , but like prior post , open the cylinder and find out....Joe

Those grips are legit. I’d rock those if they fit your hand
I don’t know, feel like I need platform shoes, a hat with a feather, valor coat and cane.
Those grips and I’m ready to handle my ladies bid’ness

Found it! J frame model 36 “chiefs Special”.

Well I’m a bit biased…..

The 686 is a former CO highway patrol revolver, so I had to spice it up

The VZ grips on the J frame were a little small for my hands but they looked oh so good
