Hello everyone,

I'm looking to bring back to life a hand me down FN Mauser 30.06. It says Modelo 1935 on the side, and after some quick research online, it should like this action could be Belgian from 1935-40ish? The action and stock aren't new but I would not have guessed they were that old. Curious if there's any good knowledge base for this model of rifle?

It kicks like a mule, so my first upgrade is a recoil pad. A scope rail would be nice too. Anyone know if I can purchase a Mauser 98 rail from EGW to fit this action? It has an old two piece rail that I can use if I can't find a one piece rail. Any recommended TLC to get it accurate as possible and keep it forever?

Thanks much.

All bolt actions are pretty much the same when it comes to making them accurate. I look at things in this order:
1) Dependable optics and mounts, cleaned, torqued and loctited
2) Action bolt torque
3) Barrel and action bedding/free float
4) Barrel crown and throat (recrowning is cheap and easy, but if it’s a throat issue you are looking at a rebarrel or rebore to a larger caliber)

Personally I would use leupold windage adjustable bases on he gun in case the holes are not drilled and tapped straight.

Also is it stamped .30 on the rear bridge?
