exibit a: grizzly bears in the greater yellowstone ecosystem
exibit b: wolves in idaho, montana, colorado, wyoming

And exhibit B is a dream (other than CO) compared to Exhibit C: Wolves in the great lakes and coastal states.

I do have some hesitation when thinking about how they may drive it more if they actually contributed to paying for it. I know hunting/fishing license sales and sportsmans $ in general fund a much lower % of the DNR in my home state of MN than seen in the rocky mtn states.

Not like when they have full skin (money) in the game.
They're already full skin in the game, only they get to pick the team and the cause by donating to pacs and organizing that lobby solely for their Interests.

At least the tax woyld be somewhat equitable

Sure some do, so what? Most hunters I imagine are donating to conservation groups like rmef, nwtf etc. Not a political action group aimed at protecting Grizzlies and wolves.

How many hunters are donating to organizations against their interests?

I'm guessing roughly basically none.
