Removing BOSS and replacing with suppressor

I know it has been discussed but I cannot find any results of swapping a suppressor for the BOSS on the A BOLT BOSS system. My 30 06 shoots great with the BOSS CR —anyone see any changes in accuracy??

I have recently wondered about this myself.

Not the same comparison, but I recently did some testing with one of my custom built APR 6.5 PRC rifles. I fired the same Hornady factory ammo @ 200 yards, using 3 totally different suppressors and the difference in point of impact were not even outside of MOA... I was very impressed and somewhat surprised by this.

I’ve always loved the 60 degree throw. Those old Japanese brownings shoot. I too am looking to replace the boss with a better brake or 5/8 suppressor. Anyone build on that platform? Anyone change the stock?

My Winchester 7mm mag shoots as good with a suppressor as it does with the boss. (I use the boss with no ports if not using the suppressor)

That is good to know. Was it as simple as unscrewing the boss and screwing on the suppressor? No adjustments needed?

Unless your suppressor is the same thread pitch as your suppressor you will need an adapter, also the threads on the BOSS system are longer than the threads normally are on a threaded barrel.

I just did this on a Browning A bolt in 300WSM, I have not shot the gun with the suppressor yet but did thread it on. I ordered the below adapter for this use. I believe It is longer than a normal thread adapter at 1" for the longer threaded portion of the barrel for the BOSS system.

Yes pretty much. I bought a thread adapter from brownells, and i found leaving the numbered boss lock ring on at the same setting as my Boss worked best in my case.

So I literally unscrew the Boss CR piece and screw on the suppressor with adapter to the same depth.
I don’t know if any gunsmith would advise that and i’m not advising it, but it works for me shooting a 7mm mag through a 30 cal can.

This is how I run mine

Does the adapter index on the muzzle? Or do you use the boss jamb nut? My m70 featherweight doesn’t have a shoulder at the base of the threads and has sat in my safe for years while I hunt with suppressed tikkas. Can’t bring myself to cut and thread the barrel.

The adapter appears to index on the muzzle, I just pulled it off to look. The threads inside the female portion don't go fully to either end. It does look like the inside is machined to index on the muzzle.

My Browing has a very minimal shoulder after the BOSS thread, very minimal maybe 1/32 to 1/16 by eyeballing it.

I'm very new to the suppressor game, got possession of my first in January. 2 rounds of .308 and 4 rounds of .223 through it only since then.

Have very few guns with threads so decided to look into what would be needed to be able to use the Browning with the suppressor. I haven't shot it in probably at least 10 years.
