Looking for a little help. Picked up a Remington 7600 Carbine in 35 Whelen last week. Topped it off with a Leupold Vx3i 1.5-5x20 Duplex. Pretty happy with the over all build and really excited to take it out for some bush nuting for moose. Just need to get a sling installed. Here's wheree the problems start.\

Went and purchased the Uncle Mike's barrel band for a sling swivel mount and went to install this afternoon. Darn thing did not fit. Almost like the barrel was too big for the band that warps around the barrel. Tried pretty hard to squeeze the ring tight and instrall the screw but no luck.

Just curious if anyone else is using this mount and if you have any advice. Did I not squeeze it tight enough? Don't think I could have squeezed much more.
Possible purchased the wrong model? Thought there was only one for the 7600.

Any other recomendations for mounting a sling to this rifle?

The description mentions that it fits barrels from 0.645" to 0.660". What is the diameter of your barrel?

"For 1969 and newer: Fits Remington Model 7600, 760s and Six Pump Actions, 740, 742, other 22 and centerfires with 645 to 660 in diameter barrels."

It looks like Grovtec makes a version that doesn't clamp to the barrel for 7600s that were made after 1984. Maybe that's a better option for you.

Wonder if the Whelen barrels are slightly larger diameter?
Any road, sounds like a fantastic setup....Remmy pumps are the bestest moose guns ever! Wood stock?

Think they may be. It was darn close but just not enough room to catch any thread with the screw included.

I have the same rifle and did not use that QD mount. I used the one that fits on the slide tube:

Mine is the synthetic. Great gun based on my trial of a buddies.

Measured the barrel tonight and the od comes in at 0.680. The spec on the band I purchased is 0.640" to 0.660". Guess I should have looked a little closer but just assumed it would work for all 7600 models.

So the pre-1969 worked on a post 1969 gun? Again it makes it hard to trust these manufacturers and know what to purchase. I personally just need to get a strap solution figured out I guess.

That is a great question, but yes, I have that one and and '89 7600. Let me look in my box o' stuff to see if I have the package still.

I found it, Yes, the pre '69 is what I used (12212) on my post '69. Lots of comments on Midway that they work that way.
