I’ve got an itch to try the 300 UM, I currently only own Tikka’s (223,243,6.5prc,300). Curious if I’ll be disappointed about quality of the action and end up regretting it, also unsure of what hunt id take it on vs 300WM. There seems to be a fair amount always being resold. I don’t reload, do I lose what makes it special? Would I be making a mistake?
Is the itch better left unscratched?

I have a couple and a couple 300win's and 300wsm's. Currently my most accurate hunting weight 300 is a 300win and I would feel fine on elk sized game to 4 digits on most days. At that range the rum doesn't do much better than the other two. They all take you to +/_ 2k yds if done right.

As far as the action, a used Rem 700 can feel anywhere from as smooth as any custom action to a gritty mess. Most aren't as smooth as a Tikka.
The 300RUM does what it was designed to do well, and can be quite accurate doing it. As with any chambering, there are plusses and minuses.
