I have purchased the parts to switch my 30-06 Remington 700 ADL to a BDL (hinged floor plate). But haven't settled on a stock.

I would appreciate yall's suggestions and what you like and dislike if you are running an after market 700 BDL stock.

Do you have an idea of about how much you want to spend? Are you wanting wood, fiberglass, carbon fiber, conventional hunting type stock, something with a vertical grip, open or thumbhole grip, color molded in to the stock, wide or narrow forearm, monte carlo type or straight comb stock?

Honestly, the options are nearly endless and will only be limited by how much you want to spend.

If you're looking for a budget friendly yet still a good solid stock I have many HS Precision stocks on my Rem 700 semi custom builds and with the exception of the comb is a little on the low side if you're using a scope with a 50mm or bigger objective they make for a good affordable and very solid stock. The low-ish comb height is easily remedied by adding an inexpensive Kydex adj. cheek riser, I have them on all of my HS Prec. stocks.

I also have numerous McMillans and one Manners that are really nice stocks but they cost considerably more too.

Try and give an idea of cost you're willing to spend and the type of stock you think you want and you'll get a lot better and more specific, to your criteria, answer/s.

Thanks guys I'll check out HS precision, grayboe for starters.

My price range is around 250. I forgot to mention I have a shorter barrel

IMO HS precision are heavy and bulky. B&C sporter stock is a better choice especially for a short barrel rifle.

I have a Greyboe Phoenix. Nice fiberglass stock that weighs about 30 oz. Not terribly cheap at $600.

To bad you don't need a stock for a short action because I recently saw a HS Prec. take off stock from a Rem LTR for sale over on a different forum that was in your price range.

Personally, I think the HS Prec. stocks are a better and a higher quality stock than are the B&C stocks. The HS Prec. are generally a couple ounces heavier than the B&C but that's because they are more solid and less hollow. The sporter style HS Prec. stocks like those that were on the original Remington VSSF 1 and Sendero 1 didn't have the palm swell or the wider forearm and if they were laying next to a B&C sporter model I don't know that you could tell the difference between the two by just looking at them.

Dang, Ya that would have been nice. Thanks for the suggestion, I definitely need to keep an eye on the classifieds.

Just make sure you educate yourself on what and which model stock you're buying. Some models have palm swell and some don't. It's a personal taste thing and you may or may not like the feel. Also, some have a more sporter and narrower forearm while others are wider. Again, it's personal taste so just make sure you know exactly what you're buying before you purchase one.

Sorry for the hijack but I'm curious as to why you're switching from a mag box to BDL as I'm having a custom built and specifically want a box as I hate my BDL. Is there a reason you don't like the box?

He isn’t switching from a mag box he is switching from a blind magazine (ADL) to a hinged floor plate BDL. Most people prefer to be able to drop the floor plate and unloaded all the rounds in the rifle instead of having to cycle the bolt to remove unfired rounds like an ADL.
Some people prefer ADL style and they are an ounce lighter.
Just curious why you hate your BDL?

Because it's quicker and easier to throw a mag in and out rather than dropping the floorplate and having cartridges falling out in the snow, etc. If I'm travelling by E-bike and see something I want to go after, it's easier to grab a mag and throw it in than it is to fish around in my pockets and load cartridges into the magazine.

I switched form Adl to bdl for better stock selection.

Box mags are cool but the conversion is more expensive and I have to buy mags, hinged floor plate is good to go right away.

This is my deer gun, looking for efficient and effective, without bells and whistles

Just curious why would you have to fish around in your pocket? You can keep 3-4 rounds in the magazine of a BDL even when riding your E-bike. See something to go after then hike over and if you want to shoot run the bolt to load a round and shoot.
To each their own though.

Going out on a limb here, but in some states, having ammo loaded in the mag (and the mag in the gun) makes the gun “loaded”. If they consider an E-bike a “vehicle”, then you are traveling in/on a vehicle with a “loaded” weapon in violation of game laws.
