I am a critical care nurse and me and the soon to be wife are looking at our options out west.

Let’s hear them where would you move ?

Billings MT wouldn't be bad. Good medical facilities, decent cost of living compared to farther west, short drive to the mountains.

You didn’t mention where you are coming from. I have lived in both Montana and Idaho. Great opportunities in both. Finding the right fit employer would be my biggest issue.

Smallest town you could find that had what you are looking for job wise... , I've always liked small towns but small towns and good jobs don't always go hand in hand.......

Lake Town, River Town, Mountain Town, Ski Town?

I’ve been all over the world. I moved east with my family but I’m not really “home” here. Her requirements are relative ease to Shopping

Alaska? Eagle River or Alyeska would keep you close enough to Anchorage for work/shopping.

Cody wy, me and GF live in greybull about 50mins away. She works at the hospital there and in worland. Both nice facilities and we're surrounded by public land.

What’s the cost of living in Cody? Any idea average pay for the RN out there? You can pm if you like

You've got a great career that will give you lots of options. What a fun situation! I think southeast Idaho somewhere would be right down your alley. Pocatello, Blackfoot, Idaho Falls etc.

Tell me about the hunting in that area ? Public land.?

I'm with unclericco: SE Idaho. I have two friends who moved there years ago and love it. Not trendy like Bozeman/Missoula/Boise but all kinds of hunting and fishing nearby. Also have friends in Boise who like it but plan on long drives to get away from the crowds.

If you're looking at Montana, as above, Billings is a great choice, as is Great Falls and frankly anywhere in the state. Some places are more insane in terms of crowds when you're hunting and housing prices, others not so much.

More details are need, how long are you looking to relocated to the west ? would you be having kids there and how far do you want to be far/close to school and airport/trans station ???

Relocation for good
No kids yet not sure if they are in the future or not.
Airports not really a big deal she won’t fly.
Schools if we have kids will be something to think about. Decent schools I think are a must.

The hospitals will be the limiting factor depending on how much "critical care" you want to do. A lot of the bigger towns out here don't have critical care available in the hospital. You would need to be at a regional medical center for that.

How are you with flying? Being a flight nurse is a really good job out here. Have a buddy that is a flight nurse out of Rapid. Good pay, benefits and a lot of time off. Because of the limited specialized care they stay busy.
